Do you want to contribute to making health data available for research and promote Swedish research in a legally secure and service-oriented manner? With us, you will contribute to the important work of providing external stakeholders with data from our health and social services data registers. You will have the opportunity to use and develop your programming skills in an organization that makes a difference. We are in an exciting phase where we are moving our registers to a new modern database environment.
About the position
The position is located in the department for registers and statistics, and you will contribute by providing data for research from our registers. You will program in SAS, and there is a strong expectation that you will contribute to the development of the organization related to SAS programming and macro development to ensure that the agency's data is easily accessible to others.
You will perform population extractions and data extractions from the National Board of Health and Welfare's own registers and conduct data merges from various sources. Since the National Board of Health and Welfare should not disclose more information than necessary, there are significant elements of conditions regulating the data disclosures.
You will have an independent and varied job where you solve programming challenges and collaborate with colleagues towards common goals. You will switch between different tasks, drive your own work forward, and provide support to colleagues and external parties by answering questions and pedagogically explaining the materials you produce.
About you
We are looking for someone who is analytical and solution-oriented, with the ability to handle complex data. You have a good ability to switch between different tasks and can manage parallel projects without losing focus. You express yourself clearly in Swedish, both in speech and writing, to collaborate with colleagues and communicate with external parties. You have a strong sense of responsibility for your work but also value teamwork highly – we work as a team where we support and learn from each other.
We are looking for someone who has
- a relevant master's degree, for example in statistics, epidemiology, public health, social sciences, or qualifications that the National Board of Health and Welfare considers equivalent
- very good programming skills
- an interest in optimizing and automating programming solutions to ensure they are both robust and scalable
- the ability to express yourself clearly and pedagogically in Swedish in speech and writing
- an interest in working with social issues or issues related to health care and public health
It is meritorious if you have
- experience with SQL, or programming in tools for statistical production such as SAS
- experience in processing individual data from registers or other large datasets for research or statistical production
- an understanding of the regulations regarding the handling of personal data and public administration
- good knowledge of the National Board of Health and Welfare's health and social services data registers
Good to know
The employment is a permanent position and begins with a six-month probationary period. Your work will be performed at the office at Västerbroplan in Stockholm. Your job title will be statistician, and your placement will be in the department for registers and statistics, unit for Researcher and Register Services.
