Working as a personal assistant is important and rewarding in many different ways, but it can also be difficult and demanding. There can be various challenges and different conditions to consider at the same time. It is important that you as an assistant feel secure in your professional role, and your introductory training is followed by frequent staff meetings and ongoing supervision.

We at AssistansExperten are now looking for an assistant who wants to work with our 21-year-old client and help her get the assistance she needs to live as independently and valuable a life as possible based on her conditions.

The client is a 21-year-old girl with physical and intellectual disabilities who lives in her own apartment centrally located in Västerås. She is a social girl who enjoys interacting with others and doing fun things together. The tasks involve assisting the girl in her daily life and providing her with the best possible conditions for development and quality of life. The tasks include, among other things, personal care, assistance with dressing and undressing, help during meals, transfers, household chores, cooking, and assistance with various activities inside and outside the home. The client uses a wheelchair, and an assistant needs to be in her immediate vicinity at all times to ensure safety, security, and well-being.

In her free time, the client enjoys reading books, playing catch, going for walks, or visiting the playground. She likes when things happen around her, so it is important that you as an assistant have the ability to take initiative and ensure that the time together is filled with meaningful activities.

The client lacks a spoken language and communicates through body language, sounds, facial expressions, and sometimes also with a digital communication aid. In the work as a personal assistant, it is therefore a prerequisite that you are attentive, curious, and willing to learn her way of communicating so that you can understand each other in the best way.

Who are we looking for?

We are looking for someone who is calm, secure, and understands the difference personal assistance can make for each individual's quality of life. Important qualities for you to work in our team are that you are responsible, mature, and able to keep order around you. It is important that you master the Swedish language in both speech and writing and that you are straightforward and clear in your communication. We highly value your ability to vary between play, fun, and patience, and that you can be yourself as the client is motivated by social interaction that occurs at her level. You need to be physically fit as the work involves manual lifting and transfers, which require full mobility and strength.

About the position

Working hours: Every Wednesday overnight, from 15:15 to 09:00 and every fourth Sunday overnight from 10:00 to 09:00, or every other Saturday overnight from 10:00 to 10:00.

Employment form: As long as the assignment lasts (SLUV employment), hourly employment during the introduction.

Salary: Fixed hourly wage according to agreement. Other compensation according to collective agreement.

Start date: Immediately for introduction.
