Make a Difference. Every Day.
Are you looking for an exciting and varied job where you have the opportunity to develop both professionally and personally? Then psychiatry is for you! We are looking for more cheerful and committed colleagues who want to make a difference for our patients.
The adult psychiatry department in Kristianstad offers specialist psychiatric care in the northeastern and southeastern municipalities of Skåne. We have a wide geographical spread, but despite this, our operations are characterized by proximity and short decision-making paths. Ward 1 is responsible for the high-intensity care of patients in the acute phase before they can be discharged or transferred to another inpatient care ward. The ward is located next to our emergency department. The patients we care for have significant care needs. Here, we employees thrive together and work in teams consisting of caregivers/nursing assistants, nurses, social workers, doctors, medical secretaries, and two unit managers, where everyone collaborates to provide the best response and care quality to our patients. The work environment is highly valued, and the team cherishes good camaraderie with humor and direct communication. For us, a safe workplace and good cohesion are important. We are keen to maintain a high level of competence regarding both teamwork and new knowledge regarding psychiatric care and treatment.
We are transitioning to the title of nursing assistant and will gradually phase out the title of caregiver across all our psychiatric operations. This work started on November 1, 2023. The change in title will not alter the need for specialist competence in psychiatry. Specialist competence remains very important and will continue to be developed. Within the administration, work has begun to review what is needed for continued competence development, increased professional knowledge, and development opportunities related to patient work.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
As a nursing assistant with us, you will participate in the psychiatric care of our patients, where you work for high patient safety through close collaboration with both colleagues and patients. Here, you will have the opportunity to provide psychiatric care within the broad spectrum of psychiatry, and we work with low-arousal responses to reduce the use of coercive measures. Person-centered care is the focus, and each patient has two contact persons who together design the care plan.
Your responsibilities include daily routines, support conversations, collaboration with municipalities, and documentation in Melior and My Plans. There may also be a need for shifts at our emergency department. At the psychiatric emergency department, we conduct highly specialized psychiatric assessments. Here, you will work with triage according to RETTS and report based on S-BAR. Before each shift ends, the group gathers to reflect on the shift.
With us, you will receive, in addition to a pleasant and exciting workplace, an introduction and shadowing according to your needs so that your competence is utilized in our team.
Working hours are scheduled for days and evenings with weekend shifts two out of five weekends.
QUALIFICATIONS
We are looking for someone who is a trained nursing assistant or specialist nursing assistant in psychiatry. This means that you have a recognized upper secondary care and nursing education (2500 points), a recognized care and nursing education via Komvux (minimum 1350 points), or another equivalent nursing assistant education. Since the work largely involves communication and documentation, good language skills in Swedish, both spoken and written, are a requirement. You also master basic medical technical skills at the nursing assistant level.
Applicants who currently hold a permanent position with the title caregiver can apply and will retain the title upon potential employment (but no longer than until 2033 when the title caregiver will cease within our operations).
We would prefer that you have experience working as a caregiver and/or nursing assistant. Experience working in psychiatry or with patients with mental health issues is advantageous. Work within inpatient care or social psychiatry is also considered meritorious. Additionally, good computer skills and basic knowledge of our journal system Melior are beneficial.
You have a genuine interest in psychiatric care and always put the patient first. Furthermore, you have good prioritization skills and contribute to a good work environment. For the role, it is important to remain calm and have a low-arousal response in stressful situations, which is why we are looking for someone who is secure and stable as a person. With a high sense of service and responsibility, as well as good collaboration skills, you humbly meet the situation the patient and their relatives are facing. Additionally, you enjoy mentoring students and feel secure in that role. You also like to work with care development in various forms of improvement work. We are keen to find the right people and therefore place great emphasis on personal suitability.
Attach your nursing assistant certificate from the National Board of Health and Welfare if you have received it or your diploma with your application. If you have not yet received the certificate, you will be given the title of care assistant in the meantime. If you were permanently employed as a nursing assistant on July 1, 2023, or if you wish to retain the title caregiver and were employed as such before November 1, 2023, please provide a certificate that verifies this.
A background check will be conducted before potential employment.
