Piet Oudolf's garden at Vandalorum is his first at a Nordic cultural institution. The first phase of the garden was established in 2023 and includes a 3500 m² perennial meadow. In spring 2025, the establishment will continue with an approximately 850 m² perennial meadow in Vandalorum's courtyard. Oudolf's master plan eventually encompasses the entire museum property of over 8 hectares.

Main Responsibilities

You will be responsible for the ongoing operation and maintenance of Vandalorum's newly established garden, designed by Piet Oudolf. The work will be carried out in close collaboration with the property manager and the museum's management, in consultation with Piet Oudolf. A volunteer program for the garden has been established.

• daily maintenance of Oudolf's garden and other grounds such as weeding, planting, watering, hedge trimming, etc.

• supervise other staff in the garden

• lead the volunteer program for the garden

• assist in other departments of the museum during the garden's dormant periods

Requirements and Qualifications

We are looking for someone with a passion for gardening, who thrives in a close-knit team in a workplace characterized by creativity, development, and engagement. You have a structured and well-organized work approach. You combine good teamwork skills with the ability to work independently and flexibly, even during high-pressure periods. An interest in art and design is a plus. Personal suitability is highly valued.

• trained gardener or equivalent

• documented experience in garden maintenance

• experience in project management

• good knowledge of Swedish and English

• B driver's license

About the Employment

Permanent position, full-time, fixed salary. Start date according to agreement. The work is primarily scheduled during the day, Monday to Friday, but evening and weekend work may occur. Due to the nature of the work, there will be more intensive periods throughout the year, requiring flexibility.

About Piet Oudolf

Dutch Piet Oudolf is one of the world's leading garden designers, having created gardens at The High Line in New York, Vitra in Weil am Rhein, and restaurant Noma in Copenhagen, among others. Oudolf works with a naturalistic planting design that is rooted in the site and the surrounding nature. He creates gardens whose vegetation changes and appeals throughout all four seasons.

About Vandalorum

Vandalorum is a museum for international contemporary art and design, located in Värnamo in Småland, and has over 100,000 visitors a year. Vandalorum is operated by a foundation and is built according to an original concept by Renzo Piano, inspired by local building traditions and materials.
