About the Position

Härnösand Library is a unit within the Growth Department, which belongs to the Municipal Executive Board of Härnösand Municipality. In addition to the library unit, the Growth Department includes the Business Unit, Development Unit, Culture Unit, and the Strategic Community Development Unit.

The Growth Department leads the municipality's efforts to promote community development in Härnösand and to ensure that the municipality is attractive to businesses, visitors, and residents.

According to law, the library must work for the development of a democratic society by contributing to knowledge dissemination and free opinion formation, promoting the status of literature and interest in education, enlightenment, training, and research, as well as other cultural activities. The operations also include actively working for digital inclusion, educating, guiding, and supporting people's digital competence in relation to society's digital transformation.

One of our librarians is retiring, so we are now looking for a children's librarian to strengthen the reading promotion team. Are you interested in children's and youth culture, children's creativity, expression, and language development? Then this is the job for you!

Job Responsibilities

As a children's librarian, you will be responsible for the library's activities aimed at children. You will be part of the library's reading promotion team and work together with colleagues on Bokstart, where you are one of the Bokstarters who makes home visits to families and collaborates closely with child health care and preschool.

You will plan, implement, and evaluate reading promotion initiatives and program activities for children. You will use and try different reading promotion methods in your work and guide in media and information literacy (MIK) issues.

You will work process-oriented with business development using service design as a tool. Furthermore, you will participate in regional and national networks, collaborate with other municipal operations, and external actors.

You will be offered a varied and independent job that includes everything from developing strategies and monitoring the environment to analyzing, documenting, and writing reports. The work also includes marketing and planning events. The position includes standard librarian duties, such as staffing the information desk.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone who has:

• A university degree in library and information science, bachelor's degree or higher, or a university education that the employer considers equivalent.
• Good knowledge of Swedish and English, both spoken and written.
• A valid driver's license (B).

It is meritorious if you have:

• worked in a library or in another cultural activity.
• worked pedagogically with guidance.
• knowledge of MIK issues and digital transformation processes.
• experience in development work.
• experience working closely with children.
• experience presenting both physically and digitally.
• experience organizing events.

Extent: Full-time. Permanent. Evening and weekend work included.
