Job Advertisement: Teacher at SiS Youth Home Folåsa

The Swedish National Board of Institutional Care (SiS) is an authority responsible for individually tailored compulsory care for young people and adults with substance abuse issues. SiS also implements secure youth care. We do this at youth homes and homes for adults with substance abuse, across the country. Working with us at SiS will be an exciting challenge. Regardless of where you work in our organization or what position you hold, you contribute to creating life-changing transformations.

SiS Youth Home Folåsa receives school-age girls with psychosocial issues as well as criminal behavior and substance abuse.

Job Description

Do you want to help create hope for vulnerable youth? Do you want to work in a school with a positive atmosphere, high quality, and joy in work? Then the position as a teacher at SiS Youth Home Folåsa is a meaningful challenge for you. Now you have the opportunity to influence students' futures and education in a creative and enabling school environment.

Students who come to us are in problematic and difficult life situations. The majority of students have negative experiences of school and low trust in teachers and other adults. As a teacher with us, you have a unique opportunity to ignite students' desire to learn and succeed in the school environment. Teaching takes place in small classes, which allows you ample time for each student. You always start from the individual needs of the students and build relationships that make them feel secure in the school environment.

Your tasks include planning, teaching, assessment, and follow-up work. Your work is well anchored in curricula and grading criteria. Since the work is based on the students' needs, you will work broadly in your teaching and not only within subjects where you have your primary educational focus. Motivational work is an important part of the job, and mentorship for a few students is included in the position. The institution has several complementary competencies, and as an educator, you are one of the cogs in a collaborative effort around the students. Collaboration with, for example, nurses, treatment pedagogues, and psychologists is therefore an important part of your duties. Many of us care, and together we take a holistic approach to the students.

To ensure you have the right conditions to succeed in your role with us, you will receive a comprehensive introduction program with a strong focus on safety aspects of the work. You also have the opportunity to grow and develop professionally in your role. Every year, all teachers within SiS gather for joint professional development, and we also take our own initiatives for further education at the institution. The work team consists of a principal, deputy principal, special educator, and 11 certified teachers. A total of 35 students are offered places at Folåsa school.

Qualifications

We are looking for an engaged and inspiring teacher with a genuine interest in working with students who need extra support. You should have the ability to adapt to rapid changes and be flexible. You have a positive view of people and the ability to handle conflicts constructively. You are well acquainted with the school's governing documents and have a good ability to express yourself verbally and in writing.

  • Qualified teacher with certification and authorization in mathematics for grades 4-9.

You have:

  • Very good knowledge of the Swedish language (spoken and written).
  • Basic computer skills and good computer proficiency.
  • Driver's license (B).

It is an advantage if you have:

  • Authorization in one or more additional subjects
  • Experience working as a teacher.
  • Experience working with youth in socially vulnerable situations.
  • Experience teaching in special education groups.
  • Experience working in compulsory care.
  • Knowledge of neuropsychiatry.
  • Special educational competence.

We place great emphasis on personal suitability.

At SiS, we care about good employee relations. This means that you, as an employee, take responsibility for your work, contribute to development, and participate in good collaboration. Read more about our employee relations.
