Ulriksdal Castle Theatre Confidencen, established in 1753, is located in the Ulriksdal Castle area in Solna. The theatre was rediscovered in the 1970s by opera singer Kjerstin Dellert and has been in use ever since. The theatre's machinery is operated manually, making this a unique place and environment to work in. In the summer of 2025, the Confidencen Opera & Music Festival will be held for the seventh consecutive year.

About the position

We are looking for 1–2 individuals for varying positions for the 2025 season.

The positions are project-based (one at 100% and one on an hourly basis) during the Confidencen Opera & Music Festival 2025. The festival includes a major opera production of Don Giovanni with 11 performances and 4 standalone concerts. The position also includes additional performance productions outside of the festival, in June and August.

Work periods

April approx. 3–5 days: Stage preparations and setup.

May/June: approx. 6–9 days: Stage preparations, set construction, rigging for the Don Giovanni performance.

June 24 – July 23: rehearsal period, preparations, technical rehearsals, preparatory dress rehearsals, dress rehearsals, etc.

Festival period July 24 – August 24 (The last opera performance is on August 12)

August 25–26: Post-production work

Note! The above periods have varying scopes and working hours.

Job description

The work involves preparing and setting up the stage before the season starts. Collaborating with the set designer to prepare decorative elements, reviewing the orchestra's technical needs, rigging and preparing for performances, operating stage technology on musical cues during performances, cleaning up after performances, and participating in rehearsals to solve technical challenges during the rehearsal and performance periods. After the festival, there will be a few days of restoration work. We are a small theatre with few employees, and it is important to help out wherever needed. Other practical tasks may also occur that are not directly related to technical stage work.

Confidencen is a historic theatre with a classic proscenium stage, and the stage technology consists of blocks, pulleys, and ropes, making it at times physically demanding.

About you

We are primarily looking for someone with experience and/or education as a stage technician who would like to work in a historic theatre. You should be familiar with performances and understand that some rehearsals may involve a lot of waiting time, but you still need to stay engaged and be available. We prefer someone who is meticulous, responsible, and enjoys getting hands-on. Musicality and the ability to read sheet music are advantageous but not required, as well as experience in safety work on stage and working in a historic environment.

Requirement for a B driver's license.
