Today's and Tomorrow's Electricity Prices in Sweden

Today, on September 16, 2024, electricity prices in Sweden have varied significantly throughout the day. The lowest prices were recorded early in the morning, while prices rose significantly during the morning hours. Tomorrow, on September 17, 2024, a similar trend is expected, with slightly lower prices during the night and higher prices during the day.

Today's Electricity Prices

During the early hours, between 00:00 and 01:00, the electricity price was a modest 11 öre per kWh. It was the cheapest hour of the day, making it advantageous to use electricity-demanding appliances such as dishwashers and washing machines. Prices then gradually increased, reaching a peak of 81 öre per kWh between 08:00 and 09:00. This was the most expensive hour today, making it less cost-effective to use a lot of electricity during this period.

Tomorrow's Electricity Prices

Tomorrow, electricity prices are expected to be slightly lower during the early morning hours, with a price of 18 öre per kWh between 00:00 and 01:00. Prices then gradually rise during the day, reaching a peak of 77 öre per kWh between 19:00 and 20:00. It is wise to plan electricity-demanding activities during the cheaper hours to save money.

Tips for Saving on Electricity

For those looking to take advantage of lower electricity prices, it may be a good idea to do the dishes, shower, and charge the electric car during the cheapest hours. A shower during the cheapest hour costs only 8 öre, while a bath costs 13 öre. Charging the electric car costs 1.33 kronor, and playing games on the computer costs only 1 öre.

Trivia about Electricity Prices

If we had the lowest electricity price throughout the year, it would have cost only 399 kronor to heat a normal-sized house of 160 sqm. However, if we had today's most expensive electricity price throughout the year, the cost would have been as high as 14,508 kronor.

This highlights the importance of keeping an eye on electricity prices and planning energy-demanding activities during the hours when electricity prices are at their lowest. It can lead to significant savings, both in the short and long term.
