About the company

Our client is a growing Swedish tech company building high-performance, cloud-based systems for the gaming and betting industry. From their office in central Stockholm, they develop transaction-intensive real-time platforms that must operate 24/7. The team consists of approximately 50 people distributed between Stockholm and Malta, characterized by low bureaucracy and high technical expertise.

About the role

We are looking for a backend tester who is fundamentally a developer. You will become the team's technical quality hub: you will build test tools and automation in Java, test APIs and integration flows, and dig into production logs and databases when things need explaining. The role also includes elements of release management and light DevOps.

This is not a pure automation role. We are looking for someone who thrives switching between building tools and hands-on testing, and who is not afraid to take charge.

What you will do

• Test APIs and integration flows in an event-driven microservice environment
• Build and further develop test frameworks and tools in Java
• Troubleshoot in production logs and databases
• Contribute to release work and the CI/CD flow
• Work closely with developers, DevOps, and product teams in a small, fast-paced team

Who we are looking for

Must-haves:

• At least 5 years of professional experience, with a background as a backend developer
• Hands-on Java skills; you can build your own test tools and frameworks
• Experience with API and integration testing
• Proficient in troubleshooting via logs and databases
• Fluent in Swedish and English
• EU citizenship or a valid work permit
• Personality: driven, ownership mindset, and curious

Plus:

• Kafka or other event-driven architecture
• Release management and CI/CD (e.g., Bitbucket, Bamboo)
• AWS and Linux-based environments
• Experience from the gaming/betting industry or other transaction-intensive systems
