Description

University Services is the university's service organization. The unit is responsible for jointly bookable teaching spaces and meeting rooms, cleaning, mail and goods handling, access cards, on-site service and support, and examination services. Through the Info Center in Universumhuset, the unit handles general inquiries to Umeå University from students, visitors, and employees.

Job Responsibilities

As a Service Staff Member, you work with daily services in the university's facilities. Your tasks include cleaning and other service duties such as internal mail distribution, pantry service (managing staff rooms for various departments), furniture moving, and functional checks of technology in lecture halls and conference rooms. Serving as an exam invigilator may also be part of your duties. University Services strives to be a flexible service organization where the needs of the core operations determine which tasks are prioritized and when.

What are we looking for in you?

You are service-oriented and enjoy providing students and colleagues within the university with professional assistance by ensuring that facilities and other spaces are functional for operations. We are looking for someone who has a good ability to create a positive atmosphere at the workplace and performs their duties with quality and pride in their professional role. We see that you are flexible and can work independently, but also collaborate to solve tasks when needed. To thrive in this role, you need to be practical and interested in learning technical equipment such as AV technology, floor care machines, and cleaning robots.

Qualifications

• Good knowledge of Swedish (speaking, reading, writing) and English (speaking).
• Good digital skills.
• At least three years of work experience in service occupations that the employer considers relevant.

Meritorious experience/education includes, for example:

• Cleaning
• Janitorial work or property maintenance
• AV technology
• Conference service

Conditions

The position is a 100% temporary assignment for 10 months as a Service Staff Member. Start date 2026-09-01 or as agreed.
