About Us

The Eye Clinic in Region Sörmland is a county clinic with outpatient departments located at the three hospitals in Eskilstuna, Nyköping, and Katrineholm. We handle approximately 60,000 visits annually, providing both surgical and outpatient services, including on-call duties. The Eskilstuna department is our largest, with around 45 employees.

Our team consists of doctors, nurses, ophthalmic nurses, orthoptists, opticians, healthcare assistants, and administrative staff. We bring diverse expertise together to deliver the highest quality care to our patients.

Your Responsibilities

As a nurse at our eye clinic, you will enjoy a varied and dynamic role. In the surgical department, you will assist physicians with various procedures, including cataract surgeries, while managing instruments, equipment, and maintaining sterility. Our fast-paced environment and high patient volume require flexibility and adaptability.

In the outpatient department, you will prepare patients for medical consultations through various examinations. You may also conduct independent appointments, such as fundus photography and visual field tests. A significant portion of our patients have macular degeneration or other macular issues. These conditions are treated with intravitreal injections, which our nurses perform after completing specialized training.

Advisory services via Tele Q are also part of the role, though this will become relevant once you have gained some experience in our operations.

We place great emphasis on a thorough introduction process so you feel confident and supported when working independently. You will be assigned a mentor for guidance, and your colleagues will always be nearby to assist.

Your Qualifications

We are looking for a licensed nurse within healthcare or nursing, preferably with experience as an ophthalmic nurse or operating room nurse. We place strong emphasis on personal qualities.

You are curious, empathetic, responsible, and skilled at collaborating across disciplines. A positive attitude toward your work and a holistic perspective—always considering the best interests of the entire organization in your actions and decisions—are essential to us.

If you wish to deepen your expertise, there is an opportunity to further train as an ophthalmic nurse later on. Personal qualities will always carry the most weight.

Employment Type

Permanent position with start date according to agreement. Daytime hours, Monday–Friday.
