We are now looking for a Workshop Manager for our technical department at Scenkonst Västernorrland. The technical department at Scenkonst Västernorrland consists of 18 people.

What does the role entail?

As Workshop Manager, you are responsible for the design, manufacturing, and delivery of sets for our productions within dance, theatre, and music. You manufacture sets, plan and lead the work in the workshop, and ensure that productions are carried out within decided time, budget, and quality frameworks.

The role involves close collaboration with the technical director, technicians, stage managers, artistic teams, and external suppliers. You participate in meetings necessary for the business and contribute your expertise to ensure that artistic ideas can be implemented in a safe, sustainable, and efficient manner.

You are responsible for calculating time consumption, material needs, and resources for set construction, as well as planning and distributing work in the workshop. The role also includes responsibility for workshop equipment, machinery, order, maintenance, and safety at the workshop in Sundsvall. You are responsible for purchases within allocated budget frameworks and participate in the preparation of investment documentation for the workshop.

As needed, you recruit and lead temporary staff, such as set painters, blacksmiths, and carpenters. The role also involves driving for work purposes.

What is important for the role?

We are looking for you who have experience in carpentry, set production, and workshop work. You have good ability to plan, organize, and lead work in a production environment where several projects run in parallel. Experience in leadership and budget responsibility is meritorious.

You have good technical understanding and experience in turning drawings and ideas into finished solutions. You work in a structured manner, are solution-oriented, and have a strong safety awareness. Since the work is done in close collaboration with many different professional groups, you are communicative and enjoy working together with others.

You have knowledge of the Office package and are accustomed to switching between different systems and programs. A Category B driver's license is required, but we would prefer that you have a Category BE driver's license.

Start date: Autumn 2026 or as agreed.
