Aviation Safety Specialist/Investigator

Are you interested in aviation safety and want to be part of a unit that conducts aviation safety missions across LFV? Now you have the opportunity to become a part of our dedicated team of investigators. The Aviation Safety Unit works purposefully with investigations for our operational departments in LFV and on developing processes and routines to ensure that our work reaches European top standards.

The Aviation Safety Unit is responsible for delivering aviation safety-related services. Today, we are a unit with about 40 employees. To continue contributing to aviation safety work in the best way possible, in a growing industry with many new challenges and some retirements, we need to recruit replacements and strengthen our workforce.

Your Role

You will belong to a group within the Aviation Safety Unit with about 20 people working with deviations and investigations against the operational departments EnRoute and Operations. You will be part of a smaller group that handles the daily management of deviations for several different TWRs within Operations. We offer both external training and internal onboarding, education, and support from our experienced aviation safety specialists and investigators within the Aviation Safety Unit.

As an Aviation Safety Specialist/Investigator, you will play an important role in planning and conducting investigations together with involved operational and technical departments in accordance with EU requirements. In addition, your assignments may consist of handling deviations, producing reports and statistics, training in processes and routines, and coordinating various aviation safety missions.

Examples of additional tasks:

  • Conduct trend monitoring and trend analysis
  • Write various types of reports and provide clients with information on incident reports
  • Assist the Swedish Accident Investigation Authority and the Transport Agency as needed
  • Provide group meetings with discussion material and statistics
  • Handle various training sessions a few times a year

You will report to the Group Manager for ANS-DA (deviations)/investigation.

We Offer:

  • Training to become an investigator at Eurocontrol.
  • An exciting job with many challenges and the opportunity to participate in internal training, workshops, and seminars on topics related to deviations and investigations (e.g., Human Factors)
  • A work environment that values a good balance between work and private life
  • A job with development opportunities, e.g., participating in and/or leading development-oriented initiatives.

Your Profile

We are looking for someone who holds or has held an operational license as an air traffic controller.

You should have good collaboration skills, be goal-oriented, and have a structured working method. You have an easy time expressing yourself verbally and in writing. You are relationship-building, have a holistic view, and are proactive, driven by contributing to achieving set goals. You are used to working both independently and in close collaboration within a small group.

It is advantageous if you have:

  • Experience in previous aviation safety work or equivalent, but if you lack experience in tasks beyond operational work, you will receive the necessary supplementary training.
  • Knowledge in working with safety-critical tasks, either through academic or technical experience, or if you have experience from previous support work within LFV or equivalent.

Other Information

The position is a permanent employment at the Aviation Safety Unit and a full-time position affiliated with the DA office Operations. The location can be discussed, but preferably Arlanda, Sturup, or Norrköping. Start date as soon as possible or as agreed.

Before employment, LFV conducts a security clearance that includes a background check, security interview, and drug test. This position requires Swedish citizenship.

We value diversity and believe that different perspectives make us better. Our recruitment process is competency-based and includes selection, tests, and interviews, ensuring that all candidates are treated equally and fairly.
