Job Responsibilities

The Swedish Forest Agency establishes biotope protection and nature conservation agreements in forests with high natural values.

To delineate the valuable biotope from the surrounding forest, the boundaries of these areas need to be marked and maintained.

Throughout the year, we are undertaking an initiative to check the boundaries, and where necessary, both new and old protected areas will be marked. Boundary markings or additions are done through painting and marking trees, setting up posts, and similar activities.

We are looking for two forest consultants for fieldwork who are motivated to work independently in some of the finest forest areas. The work primarily takes place in the field, but planning and some post-registration are also included. Other forestry tasks may occur by agreement, depending on your experience and skills. An example of other tasks could be combating invasive species or clearing to promote natural values.

Qualifications

To thrive and function in the role, you should enjoy being outdoors in the forest and working physically all day. You will work in varied and sometimes challenging terrain with equipment, thus requiring good physical fitness. The work is mostly done together with a colleague, which requires good teamwork skills. Some solitary work may occur, so it is important that you are comfortable working independently and can plan, structure, and drive your own work.

Digital field support is used for the tasks, so some technical IT skills and navigation ability are expected.

Education focused on forestry or equivalent, practical forestry work, clearing and chainsaw certification, as well as experience with digital mapping support and GPS are advantageous. We value relevant work experience and personal qualities.

A B driver's license (manual) is a requirement.

Conditions

We offer two seasonal positions at 100% for five months with the possibility of extension.

Start date as soon as possible by agreement.

We apply individual salary setting.

We primarily offer employment in Värnamo, but there is an opportunity for employment at one of our offices in Växjö, Halmstad, or Nässjö. Please indicate in your application where you wish to be employed. Fieldwork occurs within the counties of Jönköping, Halland, and Kronoberg. The work may sometimes require you to stay overnight in another location.
