The Business Department of Fagersta Municipality is looking for staff to work as a skipper at the Oljeön museum.

Your assignment

In Ängelsberg, there is the destination Oljeön, the world's oldest preserved oil refinery. The oil refinery was built in 1875 and is now a museum, with a visitor season from May to September. Oljeön is located in Lake Åmänningen, about 500 meters from the Ängelsberg community. To reach the island, you travel on the ferry Petrolia. As a skipper, your task is to safely transport Oljeön's visitors and guides via the waterway, back and forth from the mainland. As a skipper, you are also responsible for the safety on board the ferry. Working hours are scheduled, and weekend work may occur.

Your qualifications and merits

We are looking for someone who is responsible and flexible, as well as punctual and reliable. We prefer that you have boating experience or similar experience. The requirement to operate the ferry Petrolia is a Class 8 Ship Officer's Certificate and a current medical certificate for seafarers, which is advantageous if you have it already. You have good language skills in Swedish. Since we also have foreign visitors, we prefer that you have good language skills in English; other languages are a merit. It is important that you convey good hospitality and service to our visitors, which is why we place great emphasis on your personality. You have a driver's license and access to a car.
