Water Engineer with a Focus on Open Stormwater Facilities
Do you want to contribute to the development of cleaner water in our waterways? We are now looking for a water engineer with a focus on open stormwater facilities.
Your Upcoming Role
The position focuses on open stormwater facilities, which are an important part of VA SYD's operations. The function of the facilities is to delay high flows during rainfall, reduce the risk of flooding, and simultaneously improve water quality so that the water leaving the systems is cleaner than what was introduced. To ensure they function as intended, good operation and maintenance planning, as well as follow-up and development of techniques, methods, and working practices, are crucial. The work includes issues related to the facilities' retention capacity and purification ability, as well as safety and working environment issues. There are also connections to nature conservation through, for example, collaborations with municipal ecologists.
In this role, you will work alongside a group of other engineers whose focus is on planning for the operation and maintenance of open stormwater facilities.
Your Main Tasks Include:
- Monitoring and being responsible for maintenance agreements with contractors to ensure the functionality of our facilities
- Collaborating with VA SYD's operations staff and our member municipalities responsible for park/green space maintenance
- Conducting regular field visits to check and ensure the functionality of the facilities
- Supporting VA SYD's project managers in designing new stormwater facilities, for example, during development projects
The Distribution Department is responsible for all parts included in a distribution facility; pipeline networks, pump stations, storage facilities, pressure boosting stations, and reservoirs. The department is responsible for both renewal planning and pipeline network improvements. The Coordination and Investigation unit is responsible for operational investigations, planning of maintenance and renewal of the existing facility, connection checks, operation and maintenance of open stormwater facilities, as well as large maintenance work such as dredging stormwater facilities. In the Coordination & Investigation unit, you will have the opportunity to work variably, diversely, and independently.
We Offer
You will come to a workplace with a good community and pride in our socially important mission where you are given a lot of responsibility and the opportunity to influence both the work and your own professional development. We care about our employees and invest in participation and development as well as a balance between work and leisure, offering, among other things, wellness time, wellness grants, and the possibility of vacation day conversion. We actively work to ensure that VA SYD is perceived as a very good workplace by our employees.
Who Are You?
We are looking for someone who enjoys social contacts, is attentive with a good ability to collaborate and create positive relationships with our customers and member municipalities. You are flexible in your approach and have the ability to adapt to different types of situations independently and are used to working in a structured manner. Of course, you value working carefully with a solution-oriented attitude and have a good ability to see improvements and take the initiative for them. You are, of course, willing to support VA SYD's environmental identity and our core values of quality, commitment, and attentiveness.
Your Experience
We are looking for someone who:
- Is an educated landscape engineer, environmental engineer, or equivalent
- Experience in park maintenance and/or water management is considered an advantage
- Has a valid driver's license (B)
- Can communicate well in Swedish, both verbally and in writing
