to apply for the job

Do you want to lead projects with clear goals, personal responsibility, and tangible environmental impact, both out on the coastline and from your computer?

CleanSea is looking for an operational project manager with overall responsibility for our cleanup operations along the west coast.

This is a project management role where you lead by being actively involved in the execution.

About CleanSea

Along the coast of Bohuslän, large amounts of plastic wash up every year. CleanSea works operationally to collect this plastic and protect Sweden's marine wildlife.

So far, we have removed over 100 tons of marine plastic and work through long-term collaborations with municipalities, companies, and organizations. Our work is measurable, goal-oriented, and growing.

About the role

You will have primary responsibility for planning, executing, and following up on CleanSea's projects on the west coast.

This means that you:

  • Plan monthly and yearly structures for the cleanup work.
  • Ensure that we meet our goals (amount of plastic removed per month, cost-effectiveness, delivery according to agreements and collaborations)
  • Lead and execute cleanup events with companies and the public.
  • Are responsible for staffing, scheduling, and logistics.
  • Ensure safety and quality in the execution.
  • Handle unforeseen situations (weather, personnel, equipment, etc.)
  • Document the work through photos and simple videos for social media.
  • Coordinate various projects that can look very different.

You will lead a team of about five people and report monthly results against clear key performance indicators.

Important to know

This is not a traditional office-based project management job.

A large part of the working time takes place in the field along the Bohuslän coast year-round and in varying weather. You need to enjoy physical work and lead by being actively involved.

During the winter months, there is somewhat more planning, but the role is operational year-round.

Who we are looking for

We are looking for a structured person who thrives with freedom under responsibility.

You are likely:

  • Used to taking responsibility for results.
  • Skilled in planning and foresight.
  • Solution-oriented when circumstances change.
  • Confident in leading others in practical work.
  • Comfortable being seen in pictures and videos in work contexts.
  • A person who creates positive energy in the team.

Previous formal management experience is not a requirement. Experience in project management, operations, fieldwork, or similar is advantageous, but the right attitude is the most important.

Requirements

  • You live in or have a strong presence in Bohuslän or Gothenburg.
  • Ability to work along the coastline in Bohuslän & Gothenburg.
  • Driving license B.

Application

Send your CV and a short personal letter describing why you want to take responsibility for an operational project management role in environmental work.
