The role of foot care specialist

The diabetes foot care clinic is part of medical unit E at the medicine and geriatrics clinic. As a foot care specialist, you will perform foot care and wound care for diabetics. This also involves observing, assessing, prioritizing, documenting, and communicating changes in the patient's foot status.

You participate in team work around the patient, and in dialogue with the patient and relatives, you provide support and guidance to enable optimal participation in care and treatment. The team consists of diabetes doctors, diabetes nurses, dietitians, and foot therapists. As a foot therapist, you will also often collaborate with orthopedic surgeons and orthopedic technicians.

This is an independent job where you have the opportunity to take significant personal responsibility while working in a team with high competence in several other professions.

Your profile

You are a trained nursing assistant and have a foot specialist education of three semesters. It is also desirable that you have several years of experience in the profession. You are calm and accommodating in your manner and collaborate well with others. You should feel comfortable mentoring students and speaking in front of groups.

We would like you to have good knowledge and experience of wounds and diabetes.
