As a cemetery worker in the Halmstad parish, you will be part of a large team of employees who help people daily. Here, you will work practically to keep the cemetery's green environments beautiful and accessible for visitors. The Halmstad parish is responsible for the burial operations, which is the area where you will be placed. In total, we are responsible for five cemeteries around the parish, and we operate from the Western Cemetery. We place great importance on training our staff and have well-adapted facilities for the work. Additionally, we have a modern fleet of machines that facilitate the physical work.

What can we offer you?

In the role of seasonal worker with us, you can expect exciting and varied tasks in a green environment. In addition to working with regular gardening and park maintenance (such as machine handling, lawn mowing, trimming, hedge trimming, leaf management, and grave care), we also have larger projects that develop our operations. You will also have significant contact with visitors at the cemetery.

What does the role entail?

We are looking for someone who is structured and solution-focused with an interest in gardening and outdoor environments. It is important that you are a social, driven, and engaged person who enjoys pitching in where needed; you also see flexibility as something fun and educational. We value humility towards management, teamwork, and loyalty to both tasks and colleagues. As a cemetery worker, you need to be comfortable handling machinery, working independently, taking responsibility, and being involved. The role involves working outdoors, regardless of the weather. The work means you will meet people in grief, which needs to be handled respectfully as a fellow human being. The work takes place in a politically governed organization, which requires loyalty to decisions made. We place great emphasis on personal suitability in the hiring process.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Driving license B for manual transmission. The job requires movement between workplaces on public roads.
  • Education in the green sector (such as plant knowledge and landscaping work) or experience deemed equivalent by the employer.
  • Good knowledge of Swedish, both spoken and written.
  • Good physical condition – required to perform the work.
  • Good knowledge of modern computer environments and smartphones.
  • You contribute to a pleasant atmosphere through joy and laughter at our workplace.
  • You have good references from similar work.

PREFERABLE:

  • BE driving license.
  • Driver's license and experience with: wheel loaders and implement carriers.
  • Chainsaw A+B, brush cutter license.
  • Machine knowledge and work from mobile working platforms.
  • IT knowledge: Teams, Office package.
  • Experience working with maintenance manuals, schedules, and work orders.

OTHER:

  • The Halmstad parish is a smoke-free workplace.
  • Wellness grants are offered.
  • Working hours: Weekdays 07–16.
  • We follow the agreements of the Church of Sweden.
