Specialist Nursing Assistant with a Focus on Dementia

Soltofta is a special accommodation for individuals with dementia. We are a star-rated facility that works person-centered and collaborate in two teams with a nurse, physiotherapist, and occupational therapist.

We have large and bright premises and a nice lunchroom with an attached rooftop terrace where one can enjoy lunch. In our vicinity, there is a kiosk and pizzeria, and a few kilometers away are well-stocked grocery stores. There are good bus connections to Soltofta and free parking on the street outside.

Job Responsibilities

As a specialist nursing assistant focusing on dementia in the special accommodation department, you will work with tasks included in the regular care work in the department. The section manager is responsible for leading the work and can assign you other tasks within the field of dementia in addition to the tasks listed below.

The following tasks are included in your role as a specialist nursing assistant focusing on dementia within special accommodation:

  • Guide colleagues both individually and in groups
  • Observe and map residents' needs
  • Guide, assist, and be available to colleagues in the daily work at the accommodation
  • Help plan and design knowledge-based measures for residents, considering the entire day
  • Act as support to colleagues from the perspective of relatives
  • Assist the manager in maintaining existing working methods and introducing new ones
  • Monitor the environment and update knowledge in dementia to keep it current within the organization
  • Participate in any networking meetings and collaborative forums with other specialist nursing assistants, licensed personnel, and any consultative functions in the field of dementia
  • Assist the section manager in registering and working in relevant quality registers.

Qualifications

Requirements:

  • Nursing assistant education with proof of protected professional title
  • Degree from post-secondary education covering at least 200 YH or at least 60 HP. The education should have a clear focus on dementia.
  • 5 years of work experience in health care, medical care, or social care.
  • Documented knowledge, skills, and experience in one or more specialist areas within health care, medical care, or social care.
  • Familiar with using a computer as a work tool and has the willingness and ability to quickly adapt to new programs and systems.
  • Good Swedish in speech and writing.

Meritorious:

  • Specific work experience in the dementia field
  • Familiarity with current tools - for example, LifeCare, Procapita, Flexite, Senior Alert, and BPSD

As a person, you are self-driven and take responsibility for your tasks, are good at structuring your work, and have the ability to drive development work. You can easily adapt your way of conveying messages depending on people's different conditions.

Based on your specialist knowledge, you particularly understand the professional aspects of the work and continuously maintain your specialist knowledge to be a knowledge resource for others.
