JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

As a NIS/GIS engineer at Växjö Energi, you will work within the section responsible for the operation and maintenance of the district heating/cooling networks, both operationally and strategically. Your role includes being responsible for the development and management of our network information system in close contact with users and customers, ensuring that our use of the system meets today’s and future needs and supports and develops our working methods.

You will work closely with engineers, technicians, and suppliers. The network information system is used by many employees to obtain information, for network dimensioning, operation and maintenance, and during the planning of new and renovation projects for our networks. We have a close collaboration with Växjö municipality, which provides geographic network information such as background maps and property data. Since the role of NIS/GIS engineer is a development role, the area of responsibility may expand over time based on the needs of the business. This, in turn, provides an opportunity for continuous development within the role.

Examples of tasks that will be included:

• Be responsible for developing and operating our network information system
• Evaluate and streamline new digital work processes to optimize usage in close collaboration with users.
• Provide users with support, assistance, and training
• Support investigations by creating thematic maps and conducting analyses. Prepare presentations and compile various types of statistics for decision-making.
• Ensure, together with colleagues, that the system contains the information needed for the district heating operation and that the information is quality assured.
• Drive improvement work and develop more automated methods for collecting, processing, and refining network data.
• Operation and maintenance of the system
• Document routines and working methods for the role itself as well as for users and act as a system specialist.

QUALIFICATIONS

• University or college education in NIS/GIS or equivalent.
• We value experience with NIS systems. Experience with Geosecma and AutoCAD is an advantage.
• Knowledge of working with geodata, database, and server management.
• Interest in the opportunities of digitalization within the NIS/GIS field.
• Previous experience with utility infrastructure is an advantage.

The role allows you to work methodically, structured, and with great personal responsibility in projects related to documentation, both independently and together with colleagues and external actors. It is important that you enjoy taking your own initiatives and have the ability to gather the necessary information to drive your work forward and translate needs and ideas into practical solutions.
