The position is located at Norrtälje Prison, which is a correctional facility with approximately 200 places in security class 1, located outside Norrtälje. In addition to adult education at the primary and secondary school levels, the prison offers a number of treatment programs. The facility operates for inmates, usually sentenced to longer prison terms than two years. The prison is structured around various specialized departments: support department, sexual offenses department, treatment department, and motivation department, as well as normal departments.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Kriminalvården provides some open healthcare services, which means that all prisons and remand centers have healthcare clinics where inmates can seek care. Currently, there are four nurses at the Norrtälje clinic. The clinic also has a general practitioner, dentist, and psychiatrist available on a continuous basis. As a nurse, you will have your own clinic for assessing minor ailments, but you will also determine which applicants should see a doctor.

The healthcare within Kriminalvården functions like a healthcare center, which means that as a nurse, you will have a very varied job. This involves working with both somatic and psychiatric healthcare for the inmates, assisting during doctor appointments, and administering medications primarily through dosage dispensing.

Collaboration with other correctional staff is an obvious and important part of the job. This includes training and supervising client-facing staff in healthcare issues such as suicide prevention, emergency care, and medication administration.

Working hours are daytime, Monday - Friday.

We will need full-time substitutes during the period from week 23 to week 32. We prefer that you can work the entire period, but even if you cannot work the whole period, it may still be of interest. There is also a high likelihood of opportunities to work as a part-time employee both before and after the summer substitute period.

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for someone who is reliable, secure, and stable both in your professional role and as a person. You have a high ability to collaborate and work well with others even in acute situations. You take responsibility and work independently but are also aware that you are part of a team. You can communicate in an advisory manner with non-medical staff categories. In your professional role, you make correct assessments and priorities and meet people in distress with calmness and stability. You are structured and meticulous, even in administrative tasks such as record-keeping.

To thrive and succeed in your role, it is important that you share Kriminalvården's fundamental values of a humane view of humanity, respect for the individual, and belief in the potential for human development. You are also aware of and understand how background, culture, and group affiliation affect yourself and others. Furthermore, you are expected to contribute to ensuring that everyone is treated equally through your approach. We place great emphasis on personal suitability.

We are looking for you who:

• Are a licensed nurse
• Have at least 1 year of experience in the profession
• Speak and write good Swedish

It is advantageous to have experience in:

• Relevant further education or experience for the job, such as in psychiatry, emergency care, or outpatient care.
• Previously worked with incarcerated patients
