The Swedish Prison and Probation Service is expanding – we are building new facilities, renovating, and adding on, and we are now looking for more employees. The Stockholm South area is part of the Swedish Prison and Probation Service, Region Stockholm, and consists of the Asptuna prison in Norsborg and the Beateberg Prison/Detention Center in Trångsund.

The Asptuna Prison is an open facility with 146 places in security class 3, located in Norsborg, about 20 kilometers south of Stockholm. The Beateberg Prison is a closed facility in security class 2 with 72 places, as well as an open section, Grindstugan, in security class 3 with 8 places for women. Adjacent to the prison is the Beateberg detention center with 65 places in community.

At the prisons, studies are conducted for clients at basic and upper secondary levels. There is a carpentry workshop where clients are engaged in various types of work tasks. Clients also have the opportunity to participate in labor market training in plumbing or in the kitchen (large-scale catering/restaurant).

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

The Swedish Prison and Probation Service conducts some open health care, which means that all prisons and detention centers have medical clinics where inmates can seek care. As a nurse, you and your colleagues assess minor ailments, but you also determine which applicants should see a doctor. This means you work with both somatic and psychiatric health care for inmates, assist during medical appointments, and administer medications primarily through dose dispensing. Documentation is done in the PMO patient data journal.

Collaboration with other prison staff is an obvious and important part of the job. This includes educating and mentoring client-facing staff in health care issues such as suicide prevention, emergency care, and medication administration.

Working hours are daytime, Monday - Friday.

We will need full-time substitutes during the period from week 25 to week 33. We prefer that you can work the entire period, but even if you cannot work the entire period, it may still be of interest. There is also a good chance of working as a temporary employee both before and after the vacation substitute period.

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for someone who is reliable, secure, and stable both in your professional role and as a person. You have a high ability to collaborate and work well with others even in acute situations. You take personal responsibility and work independently but are also aware that you are part of a team. You can communicate in an advisory manner with non-medical staff categories. In your professional role, you make correct assessments and priorities and meet people in distress with calm and stability. You are structured and meticulous, even in administrative tasks such as record-keeping.

To thrive and succeed in your role, it is important that you share the Swedish Prison and Probation Service's fundamental values of a humane view of humanity, respect for the individual, and the belief that people can develop. You are also aware of and understand how background, culture, and group affiliation affect yourself and others. Furthermore, you are expected to contribute to ensuring that everyone is treated equally through your approach. We place great emphasis on personal suitability.

We are looking for you who:

  • Are a licensed nurse
  • Have at least 1 year of experience in the profession
  • Speak and write good Swedish

Experience in the following is advantageous:

  • Relevant further education or experience for the job, such as in psychiatry, emergency care, or outpatient care.
  • Previously worked with incarcerated patients

In this recruitment, the selection process will begin after the application period has ended.
