About the Workplace

VR Snabbtåg is a modern train company that has been operating the Stockholm - Gothenburg train route with our high-speed trains since 2015. We have recently changed our name to VR and are now green instead of red; otherwise, everything remains the same. Since our inception, we have established ourselves as the most punctual train operator on the Stockholm-Gothenburg route and have, since 2016, ranked first in the Swedish Quality Index measurement within the category of train companies, and in 2024 we won for the entire category of passenger transport.

Since May 2024, we have been part of the VR Group, a Nordic transport group headquartered in Finland. VR is a Finnish company with extensive experience in the railway industry, from logistics and long-distance trains in Finland to contracted urban transport in both Finland and Sweden. VR Snabbtåg represents the Swedish part of long-distance train traffic, and we have offices in Gothenburg and Stockholm, both just a stone's throw from the central station.

About the Role

The Service & Operations Center (SOC) plays a central role in both traffic management, operational personnel management, and customer service.

In the role of Service and Operations Manager, you will have broad responsibilities and interact with many parties, especially during traffic disruptions. The assignment requires you to be both efficient and meticulous in your work and to have a humble attitude towards everyone with whom the service interacts.

Your main tasks include:

  • Traffic management including disruption handling, decisions on customer solutions, ordering replacement traffic, and internal and external coordination
  • Vehicle planning, vehicle management, and handling of fault reports
  • Operational personnel management within the coming days
  • Accident and deviation management

Employment Type

We are looking for a part-time employee (intermittent employment) to cover summer vacations and work as needed during the remaining parts of the year. During June–August, you are expected to work almost full-time. The position begins with a four-week training program. We would like you to be available to start this as soon as possible, but no later than May. Working hours vary between day, evening, night, and weekend, and you will be based in Stockholm.

Qualifications

To thrive in the role with us, you are professional, self-driven, and flexible with good multitasking ability and stress resilience. You are a proactive person who quickly gains an overview of complex situations and can make both quick, thoughtful, and sometimes uncomfortable decisions. You have a strong safety mindset and some technical knowledge, and you are used to working with system support.

Trying new ways of working, being a challenger, and finding solutions appeal to you. You are business-minded and clearly see how your decisions affect the economy and productivity. Since the position has a strong focus on service to employees and customers, it is of utmost importance that you are unpretentious, service-oriented, and willing to pitch in where needed.

Furthermore, you have:

  • High school education
  • Good communication skills in Swedish and English, both spoken and written
  • Experience working with the Office suite (Excel, Word, and Outlook)

We consider it an advantage if you have experience from similar tasks with a focus on operational leadership and customer service, preferably from the railway or other transport industry.
