Business Unit (BU) Vattenfall Power Solutions is a business unit of approximately 600 people within Business Area (BA) Vattenfall Generation that trains personnel in Swedish nuclear power, delivers nuclear fuel to Vattenfall's nuclear power plants, develops and implements projects and assignments, and provides internal technical specialist services for all of Vattenfall's operations, corporate staff, and stakeholders. This involves activities such as the development and provision of training, project management and project support, analysis management and investigation, product development, nuclear safety and dam safety assignments. The focus within the business unit Vattenfall Power Solutions is to develop our capabilities in project management and selected technical key disciplines. We actively work with continuous improvement initiatives and the development of our models, where our work and expertise create significant value for Vattenfall and its investments.

About the Role

The Technology Department at Business Unit Vattenfall Power Solutions develops and implements projects and assignments and provides internal technical specialist services in a consolidated competence center for Vattenfall's operations, corporate staff, and stakeholders. This involves activities such as feasibility studies, analyses, investigations, and design within all of our energy sources. The focus within the business unit is to develop our competence in strategic areas to support Vattenfall's transition to a fossil-free future.

To meet upcoming energy needs, we are now facing an exciting future with new production and operational extensions within nuclear power, as well as modernization of hydropower. Depending on where you are located in the country, you will belong to the grouping in the west or east. On the west coast, the group consists of about 10 employees working with facility design in process, electrical power, and I&C. On the east coast, the group consists of about 15 employees working with analysis and construction in electrical power and I&C. In total, we are about 20 employees within the competence area of electrical power and I&C, and in order to leverage each other's expertise and experiences, we are part of a common functional area.

Your Responsibilities

As an engineer with us, you will work on a variety of issues with varying complexity. As we are in a time where we need to prepare for new nuclear power and upgrade our aging facilities to operate for many years to come, the work involves finding innovative solutions that enable us to integrate modern technology with existing systems, which together meet modern requirements and provide high availability.

The work is varied and depends on your background, but based on the needs of the ordering organization, the work may involve:

• identifying and formulating requirements from the facility and stakeholders
• developing and evaluating concept solutions
• preparing documentation/conditions for construction and procurement
• leading the technical aspects during the implementation phase
• reviewing documentation for quality assurance regarding verification and validation

Requirements

We are looking for you who have

• a degree as a university engineer, civil engineer, or similar in a relevant field, or equivalent knowledge acquired in another way
• at least 5 years of experience in electrical power issues within the process or power industry
• good ability to express yourself verbally and in writing, both in Swedish and in English
• driver's license B

We are looking for you who are driven to find smart solutions in complex systems. You have the ability to see the big picture and connections to related subject areas. You thrive in independent work as well as in a leading role, where you guide the technical work. You can, in situations characterized by difficulties or uncertainties, carry out structured and qualitative work with the help of your analytical skills and attention to detail. You have good collaboration skills and with your attentiveness, you easily create and maintain relationships, as well as manage many contacts.

Location Solna, Gothenburg, Uppsala, Västerås, Gävle, Nyköping, or Oskarshamn. Travel is a natural part of the job, but we actively work with technical solutions to reduce the amount of travel.
