Chef at Stockholm City Mission in Sörmland
Stockholm City Mission has a farm in Sörmland primarily used for summer camps for youth and families, but also for retreats for adults and seniors as well as for internal conferences. For at least 16 days in April and May, and during a total of six camp periods of 7 days each in the summer, children, youth, parents, adults, and seniors will experience spring and summer at its best. Would you like to be part of this unique experience? We are now looking for a chef!
As a chef, you will be offered a developing job where you prepare and serve delicious and nutritious meals to participants in various activities at the farm. Your work will be varied, including all common tasks in a kitchen - menu planning, ordering supplies through Menigo as well as through Stockholm City Mission's food bank, cooking, dishwashing, and self-control.
During the camp weeks, you will prepare and serve lunch and dinner for about 80 people per day. You will have two to three volunteers to assist with preparations, serving, and dishwashing. Meals and food are a central part of the camp experience since many children and families attending the camp live in vulnerable situations and may struggle to afford food in their daily lives.
We organize camps during six periods, and you need to be able to work at least two of these; see further down in the ad for the applicable periods. In addition to the camp periods below, we also need a chef for at least 16 days during the spring. These occasions are aimed at groups of about 10-25 people who will be served breakfast, lunch, coffee breaks, and dinner with accompanying dessert. During these occasions, you will have a volunteer or host to assist with preparations, serving, and dishwashing. We are in an expansion phase where we are working to increase the number of activities at the farm, so the hope is that we will have at least the same occupancy during the fall of 2025 and will also need a chef then.
We are looking for someone who has ongoing or completed high school or adult education in hotel and restaurant management, or equivalent work experience as assessed by the employer. It is an advantage if you have experience working in social or educational activities and if you have experience working in a large kitchen.
You have a strong interest in cooking. To succeed in this role, you are responsible, creative, flexible, can handle a fast pace, and enjoy working in a team and leading others. You have a good attitude towards colleagues and participants. Furthermore, you have good knowledge of Swedish, both spoken and written. Of course, you identify with the values of Stockholm City Mission.
Requirements:
- Knowledge and experience in preparing special diets
- Knowledge and experience in self-control
Preferred qualifications:
- Experience in cooking for children and youth
- Experience working at a summer camp
- Driver's license and experience driving
Camp periods are:
- Period 1: 23/6 - 29/6
- Period 2: 2/7 - 8/7
- Period 3: 11/7 – 17/7
- Period 4: 20/7 - 26/7
- Period 5: 29/7 - 4/8
- Period 6: 7/8-14/8
We offer accommodation during the camp periods.
To work with children and youth, we always require a criminal record extract, regardless of the form of employment.
We offer
The position is a part-time employment where you work during planned activities at our farm in Sörmland. Evening and weekend work may occur. There may also be opportunities for part-time employment at our meeting places in Stockholm.

We offer an open and welcoming workplace with engaged and unpretentious colleagues. Together, we work to make a difference for the people that Stockholm City Mission meets, and we dare to promise that you will see that your efforts have a significant impact on the activities you work with.
