The Supply Management is a department within the Västra Götaland Region. The operations are conducted throughout Västra Götaland with a focus on supply and logistics to the region's various operations. We develop and deliver services in meals, laundry, pharmaceutical-related products, and aids, as well as stock and distribute products.

Within the Meals area, our mission is to provide Västra Götaland Region's patients, staff, and visitors with good, well-prepared food.

About our vacant position

We are now looking for a department head/catering manager for all patient meal production for Södra Älvsborg Hospital (SÄS) and Alingsås Hospital. You will be the Department Head for two kitchens and the restaurant Gastronomen at SÄS, responsible for operations, staff, and finances. We are also facing the challenge of streamlining through digitization regarding meals/patients, and you need to have an interest in these issues.

Your staff responsibility includes a unit manager, team leaders, and approximately 25 employees working as chefs and cooks. Together, you will drive the development of the production kitchens with associated equipment and investments. You will receive strong support in your work from your managerial colleagues, process leaders, and staff as well as other employees. You will be part of the Meals area management group where we passionately develop the meal operations for the entire Västra Götaland Region. The work also involves collaborating with hospitals to develop and cooperate on dietary issues affecting the operations. Here, you will contribute to our work with patient safety, sustainability, and good service!

Your placement will be at Södra Älvsborg Hospital in Borås.

About us

Within the department, we have about 45 employees who work to provide patients at SÄS and Alingsås Hospital with good and nutritious meals. Both kitchens are newly built with high and modern standards. We prepare food from scratch and distribute it to departments with tray delivery and canteen delivery. The kitchen also provides catering to the hospitals. We actively work to reduce climate impact from our meals through, for example, reduced food waste and CO2 reduction.

Your profile

You have managerial experience and have been responsible for staff, finances, and operations. Preferably, you have had a leadership role in a large kitchen or larger restaurant kitchen previously, or in another operation.

You have a university degree with a diploma from a nutrition and leadership program or another education deemed equivalent. Alternatively, you have post-secondary education combined with managerial experience and leadership training.

Of course, you have extensive knowledge and passion for food and developing the meal experience for patients in Västra Götaland.

As a department head, you contribute to our meal operations having a good service delivery through your ability to:

• Keep the overall picture of the department and work with strategic issues and development
• Be communicative, clear, and informative in both oral and written contexts
• Create good relationships with employees and partners
• See new opportunities, set goals, and follow up
• Create an inviting meal experience with safe food hygiene

About the recruitment process
