Operational Security Officer

Are you passionate about operational security and enjoy working preventively? We are now looking for an Operational Security Officer and offering a position with a wide variety of tasks, including staff work, advice, and follow-up of operations. In your role at the Swedish Armed Forces Technical School (FMTS), you will be the advisor and coordinator for the unit commander within the function. The Operational Security Officer coordinates the work and is the cohesive force for the unit's operational security organization.

About the Unit

The Swedish Armed Forces Technical School is represented throughout Sweden. The main mission is to provide all combat forces of the Armed Forces with wartime units in technical services and transport services, technical training, technical development, and workshop production. The staff unit is a unit at FMTS, and the department employs staff with various competencies where the unit's execution is the common denominator.

Main Responsibilities

As an Operational Security Officer, you report directly to the unit commander and are responsible for coordinating the operational security work within the unit. This includes close contact with functional specialists in areas such as physical security, work environment, electrical safety, BVKF, IFTEX, fire protection, traffic safety, weapons, maritime safety, aviation safety, among others. The Operational Security Officer at FMTS is also the functional representative for military physical security. In this area, you are responsible for breaking down central directives into routines and guidelines at FMTS and distributing and implementing physical security information and orders within the unit.

In your role as an Operational Security Officer, you will be responsible for conducting FMTS operational security meetings, annually analyzing and evaluating the physical security work at the organizational unit, being a presenter for FMTS regarding operational security matters, and supporting C FMTS in conducting a systematic operational security work, ensuring that routines for control and follow-up of operational security are followed, initiating and leading investigations with the unit's investigation group if necessary, and collaborating with organizations and units operating within FMTS. As a staff member, you will also contribute to coordination and support to other parts of the staff at FMTS. Within the framework of the position as an Operational Security Officer, you will also solve other tasks assigned by the department head.

Qualifications

• Military officer examination
• Driver's license B
• Good ability to express yourself verbally and in writing in Swedish and English
• SO8, alternatively SO7 or OF2 with the right background can apply for the position

Personal Qualities

We see you as a stress-resistant, service-oriented, and helpful person who can make decisions and work both independently and in a team. You are well acquainted with the Swedish Armed Forces' operational security work. You have good social skills, and you should develop/maintain a network with military and civilian actors within operational security work. It is important that you are out in the field in your role to support ongoing operations and follow up on ongoing work. A good ability to adapt to situations regarding both your leadership and teamwork is important. Great emphasis will be placed on personal suitability.

Desirable Experiences

• Knowledge of the Swedish Armed Forces' operational security work (completed operational security courses 1 and 2).
• Knowledge of investigation methodology (completed course in operational security investigation methodology).
• Good experience working with the PRIO deviation management system.
• Experience from battalion and/or unit staff.
