Thoraxcentrum has a broad and varied scope of work and conducts both acute and planned activities.

Full around-the-clock responsibility exists for coronary angiography/PCI treatment as well as for thoracic surgery. We are a professional knowledge organization characterized by high quality of care, a willingness to develop, responsibility, and participation. The clinic's mission is to provide the residents of Blekinge, Kronoberg, and to some extent Skåne access to highly specialized cardiology, which includes heart and lung surgery, highly specialized and specialized care in the areas of invasive electrophysiology, pacemaker, ICD/CRT, invasive cardiology/PCI, and TAVI. The catchment area for the highly specialized care corresponds to approximately 330,000 inhabitants.

The approximately 250 employees at the clinic work in care departments, outpatient services, surgical operations, intensive care units, and radiology departments. The goal is to create individual opportunities for competence enhancement and development, as well as opportunities to conduct research and advancement within the clinic.

Ward 55, which is currently merged with Ward 47, works with a thoracic surgical focus on both pre- and postoperative heart and lung surgical care and cardiological focus. Here, patients who have undergone invasive electrophysiological procedures, ICD/CRT implantations, invasive cardiology/PCI, TAVI, and medical cardiology are also cared for.

From autumn 2025, only Ward 55 will be responsible for the planned activities, which includes the Thorax admission unit TIDE.

The cardiological activities with HIA/aftercare are conducted in Karlskrona and Karlshamn in close collaboration with coronary angiography/PCI interventionists, thoracic surgeons, and thoracic anesthesiologists with short decision-making paths in a stimulating multidisciplinary environment. The clinic has an instructional nurse who contributes to continuing education and development for all staff categories.

About the Job

The department head is responsible for the daily operations, development, staffing, and finances of the department. The Thorax admission unit is a significant part of the daily operations at the clinic. You will actively participate in the Thorax management team, where the clinic's current operations and future development are discussed. The appointment as department head is time-limited and combined with a permanent position in your base profession.

The leader we are looking for has the task of stimulating and developing the operations together with the staff. The department head should work to ensure that the department takes a prominent position in the areas where we operate. Furthermore, you should see it as natural to be visible in the operations and, through an open work climate and good collaboration, create good and sustainable relationships both within the department and between the clinic's departments and further out into the healthcare system's other clinics.

We offer a permanent position with a time-limited managerial appointment.

Applicants who are relevant for employment must present an extract from the Police Authority's criminal record before employment.

We are looking for you who are a licensed or further educated nurse, with work experience from the healthcare sector. We also welcome candidates with previous leadership experience as a manager. If you have broadened your experience with, for example, a leadership training, it is an advantage. Great emphasis is placed on personal suitability.
