The Community Planning Administration aims to make Köping an attractive, sustainable, and climate-smart municipality. The administration has about 50 employees and is responsible for planning, building permits, environmental issues, GIS, property, land, and development.

The Environmental Unit is responsible for supervision, assessment, as well as information and advice in the areas of environmental and health protection and food control. Additionally, we actively work with environmental issues in municipal planning. The Environmental Department has 15 employees.

About the position

As Environmental Manager, you will be responsible for driving and developing the work within the unit in an economically and quality-assured manner. Through clear communication, structure, and security, you ensure that the unit's assignments are carried out together with your team. The position may also involve handling your own cases within the environmental unit's area.

As a leader, you are proactive and create conditions for your employees to work professionally, through a trust-based leadership style. You support case management and strive for a good working climate where employees' engagement and creativity are utilized.

The role involves many internal and external contacts, collaboration with municipal management and decision-makers, as well as other areas of operation within the municipality. Strategic thinking, strong leadership, and good collaboration across administrative boundaries are crucial for advancing the municipality's environmental and health protection work. In close cooperation and with short decision-making paths, you are involved in shaping a unique environment by the shores of Mälaren with great experiential values and play a significant role in how the future will look and be experienced in Köping.

The role includes tasks such as:

• Leading and developing the Environmental Unit in an economically and quality-assured manner.
• Providing support and guidance in case management.
• Handling your own cases within the environmental unit's area as needed.
• Ensuring that the unit's assignments are carried out in accordance with set goals.
• Being responsible for driving the municipality's environmental and health protection work forward.
• Collaborating with other units and administrations within the municipality, including municipal management and decision-makers.

The role reports to the Head of Authority and is based at the Community Planning Administration in Köping.

Is this you?

We are looking for someone with a relevant academic degree and experience in regulatory authority within the relevant area. You have good experience working in complex, politically governed organizations and have previous leadership experience with personnel responsibility. Knowledge of relevant legislation within the environmental unit's areas of responsibility and good knowledge of Swedish, both spoken and written, is a requirement. Experience in digitalization work and business development is an advantage.
