The Role of Foot Care Specialist

The Diabetic Foot Care Clinic is part of Medical Healthcare Unit E at the Medicine and Geriatrics Clinic. As a Foot Care Specialist, you will perform foot care and wound care for diabetic patients. This also involves observing, assessing, prioritizing, documenting, and communicating changes in the patient's foot status.

You will participate in team-based care around the patient, and through dialogue with the patient and their relatives, you will provide support and guidance to enable optimal participation in care and treatment. The team consists of a diabetes physician, diabetes nurse, dietitian, and podiatrist. As a podiatrist, you will also frequently collaborate with orthopedic surgeons and orthotists.

This is an independent role where you will have the opportunity to take significant personal responsibility, while working in a team with high competence across several other professions.

Your Profile

You are a trained assistant nurse with a three-term specialist education in foot care. It is also desirable that you have a few years of experience in the profession. You are calm and approachable in your manner and collaborate well with others. You should feel comfortable mentoring students and speaking to groups.

We would appreciate it if you have good knowledge and experience regarding wounds and diabetes.
