About the Workplace

Västra Mälardalens Myndighetsförbund is a municipal association with the municipalities of Arboga and Kungsör as members. The association's tasks are to perform the municipalities' duties within the environmental and health protection area as well as tasks within the planning and building code area. The association is also responsible for the municipalities' energy advisory services.

The association's office is located in Arboga in pleasant premises at the University Center, close to Arboga railway station. Arboga has good commuting options by train (25 min from Örebro, 30 min from Västerås, and 25 min from Eskilstuna). The association's office has two units, the environmental and health protection unit and the building permit unit, as well as a central administration. In total, the association has 18 employees.

Job Description

Main duties include supervision, handling, and assessment of environmentally hazardous activities according to the Environmental Code. Other tasks within other parts of the environmental protection area may also occur, such as agriculture and contaminated areas.

The work also includes providing advice and information. The work is independent, but you work in close collaboration with the rest of the environmental and health protection unit. This is to ensure a shared vision and achieve high quality with professional and legally secure handling.

Working at the association means having flextime, the opportunity to work remotely two days/week, one wellness hour/week, and your own office.

Qualifications

We are looking for you with a university/college education in the field of environmental and health protection or another university/college education deemed equivalent by the employer. You have previously worked as an environmental and health protection inspector and have experience of exercising authority within the Environmental Code area. You are used to working in digital environments.

You have good collaboration skills and are good at working independently. You can plan, organize, and carry out the work in an efficient and legally secure manner. Holistic thinking and the ability to follow a project from the idea stage to completion are good qualities.

The work requires that you have a good ability to meet people in different situations and can express yourself well in both speech and writing. Working as an inspector involves many contacts with operators, authorities, and the public, so great importance will be attached to personal suitability.
