JOB DESCRIPTION

Gävle Municipality has gathered all licensed personnel within one office, the Health and Medical Care office. We are looking for a temporary occupational therapist while the regular staff undergoes a transfer training for our employees within Gävle Municipality. Therefore, we are now looking for a motivated and engaged occupational therapist to strengthen our health and medical care organization to provide the best care for our patients. Together we work for a holistic view of the patient and make Gävle health-promoting.

The occupational therapist's work focuses on promoting and restoring the ability to perform daily activities, making the profession both versatile and rewarding. The occupational therapist works closely with the patient to identify which activities are important to them and then develops tailored strategies to enable participation and independence. This involves assessing activity ability, specific training and treatment, as well as prescribing aids for patients in need. This requires empathy, responsiveness, and an openness to look beyond the illness or disability to understand the person's overall needs. You have an individualized approach based on the patient's conditions and goals.

In your role as an occupational therapist with us, you will work with preventive, rehabilitative/habilitative, and compensatory measures within home care and at care and nursing homes. You will be a key person in creating rehabilitation pathways. You will have a direct impact on the patient's life through individual assessments, rehabilitation programs, and engaging therapeutic activities. QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for you who are a licensed occupational therapist, and it is an advantage if you have a few years of experience in the profession. To be eligible for the position, you must have a B driver's license and driving experience as travel is required in the job.

To succeed with us, you are good at planning and organizing your work. You have the ability to see what needs to be prioritized, are efficient, and use resources to achieve results in the best way. You are flexible and creative as each individual has unique challenges and needs, and you as an occupational therapist must be able to adapt your methods and strategies to meet these needs. This requires problem-solving skills and an openness to test and adapt different interventions and activities.

The work involves promoting people's health and well-being to create a meaningful and independent life. This focus makes the work as an occupational therapist both rewarding and meaningful, especially when you see the positive changes and progress in the patients you work with.

You easily adapt to different situations and see opportunities in changes. You have good collaboration skills and a positive attitude towards working in a team with others in the staff, where you contribute your own ideas and arguments. You also find it easy to collaborate with both patients and other health and medical care professionals, and you have an unpretentious approach in your collaboration with others. It is important that you are empathetic and can understand other people's life situations. The work is varied and requires the ability to translate given guidelines from decisions into action.
