Who are we?
Volvo Cars is a company on a mission; to bring traditional car manufacturing into a connected, sustainable and smart future. Since 1927, we have been a brand known for our commitment to safety, creating innovative cars that make life less complicated for our consumers. In 2010, we decided to transform our business, resulting in a totally new generation of cars and technologies, as well as steady growth and record sales. Today, we’re expanding our global footprint in Europe, China and the US, and we’re on the lookout for new talent.
We are constantly pushing our own skills and abilities to drive change in the automobile industry like never before. We are looking for innovative, committed people to join us in this endeavour and create safe, sustainable and connected cars. We believe in the power of people and will challenge and support you to reach your full potential. Join us and be part of Volvo Cars’ journey into the future.
What do we offer?
We are in an exciting phase of building the Volvo Cars Torslanda Battery Factory, where we are creating a strong team that can develop future manufacturing processes for our next generation of electric cars. Our task is to work together with other teams and functions to develop and secure the best possible processes for our upcoming Battery Factory.
You will have a unique opportunity to be involved at an early stage where we together set the tone for the next chapter in our company history by designing work methods, processes, and building a strong team.
Until production starts in 2026, you will work in a project phase. This means you will be an active part of our team in building the machinery in the factory by participating in the evaluation of equipment as we build our first batteries. You will build knowledge, but also contribute to finding improvements and deviations during the construction process.
What will you perform?
As a machine operator, you will be responsible for ensuring quality, delivery, and efficient operation by performing both preventive and urgent maintenance activities within your assigned work area. You will participate in the analysis and resolution of technical disturbances to minimize downtime and improve equipment performance. Furthermore, you will drive and implement improvement initiatives and be responsible for correct reporting and documentation.
You will handle quality deviations by understanding quality standards and making correct decisions to ensure that quality requirements are met. Collaboration with colleagues and maintaining order in the workplace is also an important part of your role. Additionally, you will contribute to training and support for operator maintenance and participate in the planning of preventive maintenance (PM).
You will ensure that standards, such as back-up, are current and followed. You will also visualize the team’s production results, such as RTM/QDFIPS, and work proactively with risk management and document deviations in TIA.
Working hours:
This position is night-shift based. Until production starts, you will all work in the project phase during daytime.
You and your skills
We see that you have a high school education with at least passing grades in Swedish 1/A, Mathematics 1/A, English 5/A, and Social Studies 1/A. If you also have basic training in automated lines, this is an advantage. You have relevant experience from previous work as a machine operator or equivalent.
If you have knowledge in problem-solving, M3MU, and A3 methodology, this is an advantage. You need to have good knowledge of both English and Swedish in speech and writing.
You and your profile
As a person, we see that you collaborate to build partnerships and cooperative forms with others to achieve common goals. You thrive in a job that is event-driven, are used to reprioritizing, and easily adapt to different situations that arise. Personally, you enjoy having structure and always aim to deliver high quality from the start in everything you undertake.
In this role, it is important that you are safety-oriented, act as a role model, and hold others accountable if you notice that safety is at risk. Furthermore, we see that you are engaged and responsible in your role, but also for the battery process.
