Gardener for the Royal Djurgården Administration

We are now looking for a gardener to join our gardening team at the Royal Djurgården Administration. The position is a permanent full-time employment with a 6-month probationary period.

The Royal Djurgården Administration's main task is to manage the King's individual right of disposition over Djurgården. Royal Djurgården is one of Stockholm's green lungs, a National City Park, and an important part of the green cultural heritage. The task includes safeguarding the historical cultural landscape, caring for the existing nature, and adapting the area to people's desire for a stimulating leisure and recreation environment. You will belong to the park and street department responsible for the operation and maintenance of parks, gardens, roads, and lighting on Royal Djurgården and Fjäderholmarna.

Job Responsibilities

As a gardener, you will be responsible, together with your colleagues in the gardening team, for the operational park maintenance on Royal Djurgården. The goal is to create a beautiful and pleasant outdoor environment for our visitors, residents, and employees. In addition to regular tasks such as weeding, pruning, planting, and some lawn mowing, you will plan the care of the outdoor environment together with others in the park department. You will also work with ground maintenance and perform and manage seasonal plantings, planting areas, and pruning of fruit trees. The position also includes supervising seasonal staff and interns, as well as some weekend work during the period from April to October. You will work outdoors year-round, and the work can sometimes be physically demanding.

The gardening team consists of eight gardeners distributed across two establishments on southern and northern Djurgården. During the season, the team is reinforced with about 25 garden workers. You will be based at Stora Skuggan on Northern Djurgården.

Qualifications

  • Gardener education, equivalent education, or corresponding work experience.
  • Documented experience in diverse gardening work.
  • Ability to express yourself well verbally in Swedish, as this is required in daily work.
  • Driving license B for vehicles with manual transmission is a requirement.
  • BE driving license is an advantage.
  • Documented experience in leadership is an advantage.
  • Possession of a chainsaw license and brush cutter license is an advantage.
  • Experience and knowledge of sustainability work is an advantage.

Other Information about the Employment

  • The employment is permanent with a start date to be agreed upon.
  • We apply a six-month probationary period.
  • You will belong to the park and street department, and the work will mainly be within Royal Djurgården. Scheduled weekend work from April to October.
  • Before a decision on employment is made, a security review with a background check will be conducted according to the provisions of the Security Protection Act (2018:585) and a security interview.
  • The Royal Court applies individual salary setting.
  • The trade unions are represented by Saco, Seko, and OFR/S.
