At the Department of Laboratory Medicine, Division of Pathology, we are now looking for a Laboratory Coordinator who wants to contribute to a well-functioning, safe, and efficient laboratory environment. This role is perfect for you if you enjoy being the hub of activity, have a strong sense of service and quality, and want to work closely with researchers, teachers, students, and administrative staff.
Your Role
As a Laboratory Coordinator, you will play a key role in the daily operations of the Division of Pathology. You will coordinate and develop shared laboratory resources, contribute to order and safety in the laboratory environment, and serve as the contact person for practical, technical, and organizational issues related to laboratory activities.
The duties are broad and may include among other things:
- coordination of shared laboratory spaces and instruments
- responsibility for order, inventory, and follow-up of freezers, nitrogen tanks, chemicals, and consumables
- ordering, purchasing, supplier contacts, and follow-up of service agreements
- coordination of instrument service, instrument registers, and cost allocation
- support in risk assessments, safety rounds, incident reporting, and occupational health and safety issues
- introduction of new employees, students, and guests into the laboratory environment, safety routines, and local working methods
- collaboration with service functions, biosafety officers, and occupational health and safety functions
- administration and development of digital systems for booking, lab resources, and internal communication, such as Teams and Calira
- practical support to research groups, including simpler laboratory work when needed, such as sample handling, tissue work, or staining depending on competence
- participation in education and teaching-related activities where laboratory competence is required
The role involves many contact points and requires that you can prioritize between different needs, work solution-oriented, and contribute to a positive and professional work environment.
Who are you?
We are looking for you who have relevant laboratory education, for example as a biomedical analyst, biomedical scientist, laboratory engineer, or other education that the employer considers equivalent. You have experience working in a laboratory environment and a good understanding of laboratory operations, safety routines, and practical needs in a research or educational environment.
You are structured, responsible, and service-oriented. You find it easy to collaborate with different professional groups and are confident in communicating with researchers, students, teachers, technical staff, and administrative functions. You need to be able to work independently, take initiative, and follow up on tasks until they are completed.
Since Swedish is the official language of the authority, good ability to express yourself in Swedish, both orally and in writing, is required. As many employees and students have an international background, good ability to communicate in English, both orally and in writing, is also required.

- good knowledge of laboratory safety, chemical handling, and occupational health and safety routines
- good administrative and organizational skills

- good digital skills and ability to work in administrative systems
Merits
It is meritorious if you have experience of:
- working at a university, hospital laboratory, or research infrastructure
- coordination of shared laboratories, instruments, or service functions
- chemical inventory, risk assessments, safety rounds, or biosafety work
- purchasing, supplier contacts, and economic follow-up
- introduction and training of staff or students
- working with booking systems, Teams, Clustermarket, or similar digital tools
- practical work with histology, tissue handling, freezers, cryostorage, or microscopy
