The Education Department is responsible for preschools, primary schools, special needs primary schools, upper secondary schools, and special needs upper secondary schools. The responsibility also covers student health services, mother tongue instruction, school transport, and school meals. We are now looking for a Study and Career Counselor for a permanent position at 50%, with the possibility of a fixed-term assignment as a mentor for an additional 30% at Söderslätt Upper Secondary School.

The Workplace

The Education Department is the largest department in Trelleborg Municipality and is responsible for preschools, primary schools, upper secondary schools, and special needs primary and upper secondary schools. Our study and career counselors work in both primary schools, upper secondary schools, and special needs schools, and fall under their own unit within the Education Department. Job Responsibilities

You will be part of a central unit for study and career guidance, where your main tasks will consist of guiding, informing, and motivating our students through individual and group conversations. As a Study and Career Counselor (SYV) and mentor, you will have many points of contact, both regarding students and guardians as well as colleagues/school leadership. You will also collaborate closely with the local business community.

As a mentor, your main responsibility is to be a full-time mentor for our students. You will, among other things, coach, motivate, and conduct mentor meetings with your students on their path to graduation. With the help of the school's student health services, you will identify any need for extra adjustments or special support as part of the school's student health team. The mentor also works to create a safe study environment for the students. You manage and update the individual study plan, monitor attendance, and contact guardians as needed. The work is performed in close collaboration with the school's teachers, student health team, and SYV.

Qualifications

We are looking for you who are educated as a Study and Career Counselor, preferably with experience from the upper grades of primary school and upper secondary school.

We place great emphasis on your personal competencies. You have a strong commitment to your assignment and enjoy guiding students both individually and in groups. You have good communication skills and find it easy to collaborate with students, guardians, and colleagues. You look at the whole picture of the student, are responsible, and have the ability to work both independently and in collaboration with others. Unexpected events sometimes occur, and in these cases, you can easily adapt to the circumstances.

Furthermore, you are development-oriented by engaging with current research, daring to think new thoughts, and gladly receiving feedback from both colleagues and management with the aim of developing both yourself and the operations.

Working Hours/Duration

The position is fundamentally a 50% permanent employment as a Study and Career Counselor. During the autumn semester, there is an additional need for a mentor role at 30% at Söderslätt Upper Secondary School.
