Surgical Department – Region Gävleborg

The surgical department operates across the county with clinics and wards in Hudiksvall and Gävle. We have specialists in urology, vascular surgery, plastic surgery, upper and lower gastrointestinal surgery, breast surgery, and endocrine surgery. Hudiksvall has 24 care beds with planned and emergency services in the areas of upper and lower gastrointestinal, vascular, urology, gynecology, and ENT.

Job Responsibilities

Being a nurse on Ward 1 is fun, stimulating, and a constantly developing job in an exciting field with many different diagnoses. As a nurse, you work in a team consisting of nurses, doctors, assistant nurses, occupational therapists, and physiotherapists, where you coordinate the patient's care and medical treatment.

As a nurse with us, you will among other things work with:

• Medication administration
• Handling of medical technology, such as infusion pumps, nutrition pumps, central lines, catheters, and drainage
• Acting as team leader and care coordinator for a care team with six to eight patients
• Teaching patients, relatives, students, and colleagues
• Participating in the unit's development work and our shared working environment

We operate 24/7, which means you will work days, evenings, and nights. However, there is no night shift duty during the first year. We apply night shift agreements.

Qualifications

We are looking for you with an interest in surgical nursing and who have a genuine interest and commitment to the well-being of patients. To thrive with us, you need to be able to handle the varied daily life on a surgical emergency ward. You are good at prioritizing, reprioritizing, and switching between different tasks, and you can handle a sometimes high pace without losing patient safety and quality. You are responsible and work in a goal-oriented and systematic manner. You have a friendly approach and see respectful, responsive, and empathetic communication as an important tool in contact with patients, relatives, employees, and other internal and external actors. You have good ability to lead and collaborate, and you also share our values, where respect, openness, and humility are important concepts.

In the role of nurse, you must be a trained nurse.

We are looking for both you with previous experience as a nurse and you who are a newly graduated nurse. Regardless, you will bring new knowledge, new thoughts, and new ideas that are valuable to our operations.
