Do you want to help strengthen vulnerable families? At Halmstad Municipality, we make a difference for children and young people every day. As a social worker in our intensive family treatment team, you will play a central role in creating safety, change, and sustainable solutions for families where anxiety levels are high. Here, you will work closely with people, make a tangible impact, and contribute to a society where more children can grow up in good conditions.
Your responsibilities
In the high-risk team, we work based on the Signs of Safety framework. We offer intensive family treatment and maintain close, continuous collaboration with the social secretary. We meet families whose children's situations require rapid and intensive interventions, close follow-up, and a holistic perspective. The work is based on a systemic and family-oriented approach where conversations with children/young people, parents, and their networks are central.
Your daily routine includes, among other things:
- Working practically and intensively with families and their networks – often in the home.
- Collaborating with social secretaries, preschools, schools, Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (BUP), and other key actors involved with the child.
- Organizing, structuring, and leading various treatment situations with a focus on safety and development.
- Working flexibly and solution-focused to create change in the daily lives of families.
With us, you become part of a workplace with strong cohesion, where we value an open climate and continuous learning. You will receive:
- Regular external supervision
- Work with FIT (Feedback Informed Treatment) as a natural part of the assignment
- Colleagues who actively work with Signs of Safety and MI (Motivational Interviewing)
- Opportunities to contribute to the University College of Halmstad's competence platform for continuous learning
Your experience
Requirements:
- Degree in Social Work or another university-level education deemed equivalent by the employer
- Experience in family treatment work
- Valid driver's license (Category B)
Merits:
- Step 1 training in family therapy
We place great emphasis on personal suitability.
Who you are
To thrive and succeed in this role, we look for the following skills and behaviors:
Networking
You build and maintain relationships both within and outside the family network. You take the initiative to contact, collaborate, and keep people informed, ensuring that interventions are coordinated and clear for everyone involved.
Transparent communication
You communicate openly and clearly, even in difficult conversations. You share relevant information in a timely manner and explain what needs to be done and why, so that trust and safety can grow among both children and parents.
Problem-solving
You analyze family situations from multiple perspectives and find sustainable ways forward. When obstacles arise, you focus on what is possible and adapt the intervention so that it leads to progress for the best interest of the child.
Planning and structuring
You create structure in often complex and rapidly changing situations. You manage the planning, follow up, and adjust interventions when necessary, ensuring the work is both clear and feasible for the family.
Integrity
You remain steady in difficult situations and act professionally even under pressure. You stick to the assignment and the municipality's guidelines while treating families with respect and warmth.
What we offer you
- Present and accessible management
- A good and supportive introduction
- Health insurance/wellness agreement
- A workplace with strong collegial anchoring, regular supervision, and a culture that encourages learning, development, and shared responsibility
