About the Department

The Palliative Care Department in Ystad is organizationally part of the Administration for Close Care and Health, within the operational area of mobile teams and specialized palliative care in southeastern Scania. We offer specialized palliative care with the aim of relieving symptoms and preventing suffering in connection with incurable or chronic illness.

The patients are often, but by no means always, in the final stages of life. We have close cooperation with Advanced Home Healthcare (ASIH). Severe pain, anxiety, and infections are examples of common reasons for admission. After a period of treatment, some patients can return home.

The operations in Ystad is a unit consisting of teams with nurses, auxiliary nurses, social workers, occupational therapists, physiotherapists, dietitians, pharmacists, doctors, medical secretaries, hospital chaplains, psychologists, and unit managers. We are constantly working to develop and strengthen teamwork to create an attractive workplace. Each employee contributes their specific competencies where our joint efforts make a big difference for patients and relatives.

Job Responsibilities

We are now looking for nursing colleagues who are confident in their professional role and work independently. We offer you a developing and exciting job where you become an important part of our multidisciplinary team.

The work is person-centered with a focus on making a difference every day for our patients and their loved ones. In your daily work, you are faced with many independent decisions, but there are always colleagues in the team to take support and help from. The work can range from medical tasks to nursing and support for relatives. This means meeting the patient's physical, psychological, and existential needs as well as providing support to the relatives. If you are interested in learning and developing, both as a nurse and as a human being, you will thrive in our team.

We provide care around the clock with shifts during the day, evening, and night. In this position, there is an opportunity to work continuous day/evening shifts.

Qualifications

We are looking for you who are a registered nurse with permission to work in Swedish healthcare, preferably with a few years of professional experience. Language skills in Swedish corresponding to at least level C1 according to the Council of Europe's scale are a requirement. We would like you to have specialist training in oncology and/or palliative care.

You who apply are confident in your professional role and have the patient in focus, which means that you have the ability to see the patient as an individual and their needs. Part of the work involves support and conversation, so it is important that you are communicative and have the ability to meet people on different levels. Furthermore, you have a flexible approach and can prioritize between different tasks when the work pace is high. To thrive with us, you need to be able to work independently and make your own decisions. We see that you gladly share your knowledge and cheerful mood to create a good working climate. We value a positive basic attitude as well as a willingness to be involved in our development work.
