About the Swedish Prison and Probation Service (Kriminalvården)
The Swedish Prison and Probation Service is growing – we are building new facilities, renovating, and expanding, and we are now looking for more employees. Our most important goal is to reduce recidivism – to break the vicious cycle. If we succeed, society will become safer and more secure for everyone. We are the agency responsible for prisons, probation services, remand prisons, and client transport.
The Unit for the Prison and Probation Service's Service Center (KSC) is part of the headquarters and belongs to the division for prisons, remand prisons, and probation. We provide support to the entire agency within finance and personnel administrative processes, as well as managing and developing these.
The position is located within the Section for Financial Administration. The section is responsible for supplier invoices, purchasing support, e-commerce, customer invoices, payment flows, ongoing accounting, fixed asset accounting, operational accounting, orders, and annual accounts.
Job Description
We are now looking for an experienced accountant to join the Swedish Prison and Probation Service. As an accountant, you will primarily work with ongoing fixed asset accounting, reporting, quality assurance, and accruals. You will work in a team and also provide support and guidance in accounting matters. Together with the team, you are responsible for reconciliation and annual accounts. The role also involves active work with streamlining and automating routines, working methods, and the agency's development processes.

We are looking for someone who has:
- An academic degree in economics or other education combined with experience that the Swedish Prison and Probation Service deems relevant.
- Experience in accounting.
- Ability to express yourself well in speech and writing in Swedish.
- Good knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel and Word).
The following are also meritorious:
- Other education within public sector accounting.
- Experience working in the role of an accountant.
- Experience working within the Swedish Prison and Probation Service.
- Experience working with public sector accounting.
- Experience working in the public sector.
- Experience with the financial system Unit4 ERP.
- Experience reporting to other agencies.
- Experience working in projects and process development.
- Experience with system implementation and development.
- Good knowledge of accounting principles and good accounting practice.
