About the Swedish Prison and Probation Service (Kriminalvården)

The Swedish Prison and Probation Service is growing – we are building new facilities, renovating, and expanding, and we are now looking for more employees. We are the agency responsible for prisons, probation, remand prisons, and client transport.

The Unit for the Prison and Probation Service Service Center (KSC) is part of the headquarters and belongs to the Department of Prisons, Remand Prisons, and Probation. It provides support to the entire agency within economics and personnel administrative processes, as well as managing and developing them.

The position is located within the Section for Economic Administration. The section is responsible for supplier invoices, purchasing support, e-commerce, customer invoices, payment flows, ongoing accounting, fixed asset accounting, operational accounting, orders, and annual accounts.

Job Description

We are now looking for an experienced economist to join the Swedish Prison and Probation Service. In the role of economist, you will primarily work with fixed asset accounting, monthly reconciliations, account responsibility, conducting controls, quality assurance, and accruals, as well as preparing materials for accounting and annual accounts. The role also includes providing operational support and assistance to managers and other colleagues within your area of responsibility. You work in a team and also provide support and guidance in accounting matters. The role also involves active work with the efficiency and automation of routines, working methods, and the agency's development processes. The role also covers other tasks that are common within the section and are part of other groups' responsibilities.

We are looking for you who have:

• An academic degree in economics or other education combined with experience that the Swedish Prison and Probation Service considers relevant
• Experience with fixed asset accounting
• Ability to express yourself well in speech and writing in Swedish
• Good knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel and Word)

The following are also meritorious:

• Other education within public sector accounting
• Experience working in the role of an economist
• Experience working within the Swedish Prison and Probation Service
• Experience working with public sector accounting
• Experience working in public sector operations
• Experience with the economic system Unit4 ERP
• Good knowledge of accounting principles and good accounting practice
