Job Description

This position is part of a research project aimed at developing advanced 3D cell culture systems and methods for applications in cancer research.

The postdoc will primarily work with a recently developed 3D cell culture method based on acoustofluidics to generate and study complex tumor models in vitro, as well as the tumor microenvironment.

The responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • developing and applying experimental protocols to optimize the quality and biological relevance of in vitro tumor models from various cell lines and primary patient material,
  • comparing the acoustofluidic method regarding flow rate, reproducibility, and quality with alternative and established methods for 3D cell culture,
  • developing analysis methods based on 3D microscopy for continuous monitoring of maturing 3D cell cultures at the cellular and subcellular level,
  • contributing to the development of automated and scalable analysis workflows for experimental data,
  • collaborating with researchers in biophysics, microfluidics, and cell biology,
  • documenting and communicating research results through scientific publications and presentations,
  • contributing to research grant applications.

The postdoc is expected to work independently and actively contribute to the research group's joint work and interdisciplinary collaborations.

Qualifications

Requirements

  • A completed PhD degree or a foreign degree assessed as equivalent to a PhD. This eligibility requirement must be met no later than the time the employment decision is made.
  • Experience working in research-oriented laboratories with advanced biomolecular and cellular analyses.
  • Documented experience in 3D cell culture and microscopy.
  • Very good ability to communicate scientific results orally and in writing in English, as we work in an international environment.

About the Position

The employment is permanent, but for a maximum of two years.

A postdoc position is a time-limited merit-based employment with a primary focus on research, intended as a first career step after the PhD defense.
