We are looking for a Construction Manager within BEST (Track, Electrical, Signaling, Telecommunications) for a government agency within the transport sector.

This is a consulting assignment. The location of work is Stockholm.

The position is 20–40% full-time, with the possibility to scale up to 100% depending on the needs of the project(s).

The assignment involves close collaboration with the client, which places high demands on flexibility and teamwork.

The Assignment

The role involves responsibility for construction management and follow-up of BEST works during the production phase of subway projects. The focus is on ensuring the contractors' progress regarding time, cost, quality, safety, and working environment, as well as coordinating work between contractors, the project organization, and other stakeholders. The role also includes reviewing documentation, monitoring contractors' work and self-inspections, and supporting project management throughout the implementation phase.

Responsibilities

  • Review construction documents and provide input from a production perspective.
  • Monitor contractors' progress regarding time, cost, and quality, and be responsible for forecasting data.
  • Review, document, and report additional work (ÄTA), deductions, and other contractual issues to project management.
  • Lead and minute construction meetings, and review and follow up on contractors' work plans, schedules, and weekly plans.
  • Coordinate interfaces with operators and other stakeholders to minimize impact on ongoing operations.
  • Ensure compliance with requirements regarding safety, working environment, environment, BAS-U, SOS planning, and other governing documents.
  • Participate in the procurement of inspection organizations and attend inspections and handovers to the operation and maintenance organization.
  • Represent the project in contacts with authorities, contractors, and suppliers, and coordinate work with project managers, BAS, and other project members.

Requirements (OBS, mandatory)

  • University degree or Higher Education Diploma (YH) in railway technology, track technology, or other equivalent education focused on BEST systems, or alternatively at least 4 years of professional experience in the rail-bound infrastructure industry. (Verified in CV)
  • Documented experience in construction management within BEST areas (Track, Electrical, Signaling, Telecommunications) or similar operations within railways, subways, or other rail-bound infrastructure. Minimum 4 years of experience.
  • Experience from at least one project within BEST or rail-bound infrastructure where the contract sum exceeds 15 million SEK.
  • Fluent Swedish in both speech and writing.

Merits

  • Certificate of approved Kat-X9.
  • At least 2 years of experience participating in risk management work (e.g., risk workshops, risk analyses, and risk follow-ups) within rail-bound infrastructure projects.
  • At least 5 years of experience as a construction manager in subway projects.
  • Installation experience from at least 1 project where rectifier station installation or replacement has occurred.
  • Documented knowledge of laws, regulations, and technical guidelines within the BEST area or rail-bound infrastructure, acquired through at least 4–8 years of professional experience.
  • At least 1 year of experience working in projects within a government agency active in the transport sector.

  • Has a lifecycle perspective regarding material and solution choices, as our facilities must function and be maintained for a long time.
  • Very good structure in own planning and coordination.
