Subject

We are hereby advertising a fixed-term position as University Lecturer in History, with a focus on the Early Modern period.

Responsibilities

The responsibilities consist of teaching undergraduate courses, primarily History I and History II, with a focus on the Early Modern period, and thesis supervision. Teaching in other courses and during evening hours may occur. Teaching includes giving lectures, leading seminars, supervision, examination, as well as course responsibility and course administration. The position includes research.

Qualifications

Eligible for appointment as a University Lecturer is someone who has demonstrated pedagogical skill and has completed a doctoral degree in history or has equivalent scientific competence.

All teaching positions at Stockholm University presuppose that the applicant has the ability to collaborate and general suitability to perform the duties of the position.

Good knowledge of Swedish or another Scandinavian language is required.

Selection Criteria

In the selection among qualified applicants, emphasis will be placed on scientific and pedagogical skill. The greatest weight will be given to pedagogical skill. In the assessment of pedagogical skill, particular importance is attached to the planning, development, and implementation of teaching within the competence areas covered by the position. Scientific skill is assessed primarily within the framework of the subject area of the position.

Higher education pedagogical training of at least 15 higher education credits or equivalent knowledge acquired in other ways is meritorious.

Meritorious are

• having experience of such teaching as the position covers, including teaching and supervision within thesis courses
• having demonstrated administrative skill through course development, course responsibility, and course administration.

The University will in these recruitments primarily consider the person who, after a holistic assessment of competence, merits, skill, and personal abilities, has the best prerequisites to carry out the current duties and contribute to a positive development of the operations.

About the Position

The position is part-time up to 75% and is fixed-term for a maximum of 6 months. Start date 2026-08-01 or by agreement.
