Skånes University Hospital (Sus) is one of two hospitals in Sweden that provides national care, National Highly Specialized Care (NHV), in pediatric cardiac surgery. This means that children and adolescents aged 0–18 from large parts of the country come to us at the Pediatric Cardiac Center. We are genuinely proud to have the opportunity to help these children and meet them based on their individual needs. Often, we follow children for a longer period, from when they are operated on until they become adults. The Pediatric Cardiac Center includes an inpatient ward, day care activities, and clinics in Lund and Malmö. The department also conducts research in medicine and nursing science. The Pediatric Cardiac Center is an important part of the national highly specialized care in pediatric cardiac surgery and has close collaboration, especially with the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit and Pediatric Surgery.

The Pediatric Cardiac Ward in Lund is part of the Pediatric Cardiac Center and receives children and adolescents from the southern and middle regions of Sweden as well as from Iceland. The majority of our patients are young and small children with various types of heart defects. The activity is both planned and acute, and we primarily work with pre- and postoperative care. Additionally, children and adolescents with acquired heart and arrhythmia diseases and heart failure are treated, including those undergoing heart transplantation pre- and postoperatively and those treated with a heart assist device. For children who need extra monitoring, two intermediate care beds are available. We follow the Nordic Association for Sick Children's Needs (NOBAB standard) for children's rights in hospitals.

Within the Pediatric Cardiac Center, we have a multifaceted work environment. Among us, research nurses, contact nurses, transplant nurses, and cardiac catheterization responsible nurses work together with other professional categories to develop the activity.

Are you a nurse or pediatric nurse and want to work with children in an stimulating and varied job? Then this might be the right opportunity for you! We are now looking for two nurses/pediatric nurses. One position is for a permanent employment, and the other is a temporary position until 2027-12-31.

The competence among us is unique in its kind considering our assignment for NHV. Besides being exciting to work with NHV, it is developing and educational to work with children and their families. At our workplace, you work both independently and in a team, and we welcome you who want to work cross-professionally and child-centered, where parents are also included as a natural part of the team around the child. We have a pedagogical and age-adjusted approach with structure, which contributes to participation and security for the patients. Furthermore, we offer you a fun job where you never quite know how the workday will look, and where the work always takes place together with engaged and competent colleagues.

We continuously conduct activity development through various focus groups, which you have the opportunity to participate in when you feel ready. We are constantly working to develop the nursing role, and there is experienced support in daily operations as well as a clinical coach who helps you both theoretically and practically to gain clinical skills.

Qualifications

We welcome you who have a genuine interest in pediatric care. As a person, you have an open approach and see possibilities instead of difficulties. You enjoy working independently while also liking to collaborate, are sensitive, patient, and share your knowledge. Your work style is characterized by lack of pretension and flexibility when the situation requires it. We also see that you are development-oriented, curious, and engaged and creative in problem-solving. Great importance will be attached to good cooperation skills and personal suitability.

Regarding formal requirements, you are a licensed nurse with permission to work within Swedish healthcare. Language skills in Swedish corresponding to at least level C1 according to the Council of Europe's scale are required. If you have further education in child and adolescent health care and previous experience of working in pediatric care, pediatric cardiac care, or cardiac care, we see it as meritorious. Additionally, knowledge of Melior and PASiS is desirable.
