The role of Specialty Training Doctor involves varied and rewarding tasks, working with children and young people from neonatal care through to the transition to adult care. You will work with outpatient and ward duties, on-call work at the emergency department, and helping the region's youngest residents and their families at delivery, the maternity ward, and the neonatal unit. We offer secure post-call support, study time, fun colleagues, and dedicated time for supervision and introduction with your supervisor. The content and scope of your specialty training plan are designed in consultation with you, the department manager, and your supervisor, in accordance with the National Board of Health and Welfare's regulations.
About You
We are looking for a doctor with Swedish licensure who has completed or is completing their internship (AT) or basic training (BT). We seek someone with the desire and interest to specialize in pediatric medicine. As a person, you are independent, calm, and stable, with good collaboration skills and sound judgment. You must have good proficiency in Swedish, both spoken and written.
You will work in a multidisciplinary team, so what is important to us is that you bring drive, engagement, and a willingness to develop with us. You are a team player who contributes to creating a good team working towards common goals. You are flexible and effective when the job requires it, while maintaining a humble and caring approach to the people you meet. No prior experience in pediatric medicine is required, but it is an advantage.

Our Workplace
The pediatric clinic offers excellent opportunities for development in the care of children and young people. We have good collaboration and enjoy our work while making a difference. The pediatric clinic has an open climate, and we are proud to offer high-quality care to our patients. The Pediatric and Adolescent Clinic's mission is to receive children aged 0-18 years. The clinic specializes in somatic care, including medical investigation, treatment, and nursing. The mission covers the full range of pediatric issues, as well as inpatient care in surgery, orthopedics, dermatology, ophthalmology, and ENT, and in some cases, child and adolescent psychiatry. The clinic consists of outpatient clinics in both Västervik and Oskarshamn, and an inpatient ward. The ward has 12 beds distributed across seven ward beds and five neonatal beds. Day care and play therapy are also available. Our goal is always to maintain high medical quality combined with excellent care.
Västervik Hospital is one of three hospitals in Kalmar County. It is an emergency hospital with maternity care and a neonatal unit.
