About the Swedish Prison and Probation Service

The Swedish Prison and Probation Service is growing – we are building new facilities, renovating, and expanding, and we are now looking for more employees. Our most important goal is to reduce recidivism – to break the vicious cycle. If we succeed, society will become safer and more secure for everyone. We are the agency responsible for prisons, probation services, remand prisons, and prisoner transport.

Halmstad Prison is a closed prison in the second-highest security class. The prison has 160 employees, most of whom are prison officers. The prison is located five kilometers west of the city center, just next to the Flygstaden commercial area in Halmstad. The distance to Halmstad city center is approximately 10–15 minutes by bus or bicycle.

A remand prison is currently being built on the prison grounds, with a planned inauguration in spring/summer 2027. The capacity increase will result in a doubling of the Swedish Prison and Probation Service's operations in Halmstad.

Job Responsibilities

As a Service Technician specializing in security, you work together with colleagues and are responsible for security systems, alarm systems, lock and key systems, as well as surveillance systems (CCTV). You play a key role in security technology, which means you are responsible for the maintenance and support of our security systems.

The role includes, together with the manager, ensuring that the security systems align with the needs of the Swedish Prison and Probation Service. You will work on planning security technology in our new constructions and will be the contact person for external contractors and suppliers. You are the primary contact for the operation regarding fiber optics, telecommunications, alarms, access control, and radio communication systems, and you provide technical support to staff in the central watch room and monitoring center.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone who is self-motivated and takes responsibility for solving technical challenges in a structured manner. You have a high level of service orientation and good teamwork skills. Furthermore, you are flexible and adaptable to changing circumstances, and you place great emphasis on completing the projects you undertake.

We are looking for someone who has:

• Complete upper secondary education or other education combined with experience that the Swedish Prison and Probation Service deems relevant.
• Good knowledge of Swedish, both spoken and written.
• Good IT skills.

The following are meritorious:

• Post-secondary education in technology, telecommunications, communications, or security systems, or other post-secondary education deemed relevant by the Swedish Prison and Probation Service.
• Experience working with security and surveillance systems, lock and key systems, and network cabling.
• Experience with document and invoice management.
• Experience working within the Swedish Prison and Probation Service.
• Good knowledge of English.
• Category B driver's license.
