Are you a nursing student interested in working within surgery or urology when you have completed your education and graduated as a nurse? We offer you, who are starting term 6 of the nursing program and choosing to start your career with us after completing your studies, the opportunity to apply for a study grant during your final term (term 6).
Grow into the role
As a newly graduated nurse at Akademiska Sjukhuset, you will receive varied tasks and a secure and educational start in your new profession. Sometimes the step between education and working life feels large, and to give you the opportunity to grow into your new role, you will, during your first year with us at Akademiska Sjukhuset, become part of our Clinical Development Year (KUÅ).
KUÅ is a mandatory professional introduction for you who are a newly graduated nurse and employed in Region Uppsala, aiming to help you sharpen your clinical skills, network with other newly graduated nurses, and have reflection time together with experienced nurses. Our operations
Our operations are broad and offer something for everyone. The Surgical and Urological Department consists of four care units and five clinics that provide advanced surgical and urological care. We work in teams with the patient in focus, and you will have an exciting job where you meet patients of different ages and situations. With us, you make a difference while having a workplace where we invest in education and competence development.
On our different units, patients are examined, treated, and operated on within the following areas:
- 50C: Urological surgery
- 70C: Liver-pancreas, esophagus/stomach, and transplant surgery
- 70D: Surgical emergency care and trauma, colorectal, and endocrine surgery
- 70E: Surgical emergency care and trauma and vascular surgery
Your qualifications
You are a nursing student starting term 6. You are interested in surgery or urology and want to start working at one of our four care units after completing your degree. We place great importance on personal suitability, such as being responsible and motivated in your work. You have a flexible and curious approach and good teamwork skills.
What we offer
You will receive a monthly study grant according to a standard amount during the autumn term of 2026. There is an opportunity to work extra as an assistant nurse or care assistant during your studies, but this is not a requirement.
Upon completion of your education, we offer you a permanent position as a care assistant. Upon submission of your license, the employment will be converted to a permanent position as a nurse.
You commit to working for us for 12 months after completing your degree. Your new position will, unless otherwise agreed, involve full-time work with duty obligations for all hours of the day, so-called rotational duty.
