Your workplace

Ward 48 is an inpatient unit for children and young people with severe psychiatric issues, such as severe eating disorders, severe self-harming behaviors, affective disorders, psychoses, and high suicide risk. The ward is located in the Psychiatric House in Karlstad and works in close collaboration with other units within Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, the Eating Disorders Unit, and Child and Adolescent Medicine.

The ward offers four to five care beds, and we have new, fresh facilities adapted for children. On the ward, you will find ward doctors, resident doctors, nurses, a care coordinator social worker, a psychologist, a dietitian, as well as care assistants and assistant nurses who rotate through day, evening, and weekend shifts.

We have close staffing and see a benefit for our families that we have time for good psychiatric nursing care. Together, we work systematically with our working environment where everyone is involved. Among the staff, there is a high level of openness and great care for one another. We can proudly say that the work group's good climate is unique in a positive way.

With us, you will:

• Be involved in the development of our processes on the ward.
• Make a difference for children and young people in need of individualized support in their daily lives.
• Have a very varied, stimulating, and developing job, along with regular training and supervision, which in turn increases care quality.
• Receive continuous case supervision.
• Undergo self-defense training 3 times per year.
• Receive individualized onboarding into our existing emergency operations.
• Have opportunities for personal areas of responsibility related to existing care.

We work on a fixed, rolling 10-week hybrid schedule. The schedule was created together with the staff group, and we are proud of the work we have done together.

Your responsibilities

With us, you will perform medication follow-ups in close collaboration with doctors, as well as standard medication management. As a nurse, you will be responsible for nursing care and participate in treatment interventions for patients and families. All staff on the ward work with skills training and maintain a low-affective approach. The job also involves collaborating with neighboring care units, developing care plans, and conducting assessment interviews.

The ward actively works with systematic occupational health and safety efforts where everyone is involved. You will have the opportunity to influence the way of working, both in its entirety and at a detailed level. Additionally, you have the opportunity to spread a positive outlook and get the prerequisites for good work permeated by this. Together, we strive for the best possible care.

The position is a temporary contract of at least 6 months but can be extended up to 1 year.

Your knowledge and competencies

We are looking for you who are a licensed nurse.

We see that you collaborate well with others, listen, communicate, and resolve conflicts in a constructive manner. You create contacts and maintain relationships. You ensure that messages get through and that expectations are clear for all involved parties. You plan, organize, and prioritize work efficiently, while also contributing innovative ideas that are put into practice and create results. Great importance is placed on personal suitability.

Specialist education in psychiatry and/or child and adolescent care is meritorious. Experience working in child and adolescent psychiatry, adult psychiatry, child medicine, or eating disorder care is also meritorious.
